WOO HOOOOO .. the lord has blessed me with warmer weather for the next week or so .. if I can just get the rain to halt for a few hrs I can get this bad boy finished.. I have the floor sections cut out and dry fit, and battery boxes and rear flotation boxes cut and ready to glass in, I got 6 more gallons of resin today, and the 2 gallons of 2 part foam today !
by the way if you need Fiberglass Resin and only want a gallon at a time go see Kick Shaw on Hixson pike, right on the corner of Lupton Dr and Hixson Pike ,, they have about any thing you need in small quantities resin is 25 per gallon 2 part foam is 80 for part a and b
Kick Shaw also has pieces of stitch mat, chop and Cab-O-Sil by the pound if you get from Advanced Plastic below you have to buy 25 lb bags or Glass by the roll.
But if you are restoring your whole boat like me .. go see Advanced Plastics in Ooltewah their resin is same resin , but if you buy a 5 gallon bucket is 98.50 per 5 gallons, you buy 4 get one free, and the 2 part flotation foam is $61 per 2 gallons, it comes in 2 one gallon cans, part A and Part B mix equal parts
and I can give you a source for fiberglass for 2.50 per yard if you buy 10 or more yards of 1.5 oz 50 inch wide they are in Fla, the send via fedex and only charge actual shipping cost, locally this mat is between 6 and 10 per yard.. I bought 20 yards
I may start a fiberglass repair shop in 2009, repairs, bass boat rebuilds - total restores, gel coat, urethane paint, custom airbrush body paint work, carpets, led lighting , billet accessories, Livorsi gauges and accessories, all new wood or make it all composite .. no wood at all.. any thing you've dreamed about your boat becoming .. or just a basic restore new wood, carpets , and and paint over old faded gel coat or no paint the choice would be yours. Oh and custom fiberglass parts .. live wells, baits wells, console remade or customized, bigger rod box, deck extensions etc
I haven't made up my mind yet .. still floating the idea around .. just concerned that 2009 may not be the yr to do it with the economy in the tank.
It would be nice to find a marine mechanic, and some other boat related people to come together to offer a one stop we do it all shop. Everything from Boat trailers upgrades and restores , to Boat restores and upgrades, outboard repair, and super charging.. just a thought .. I'm open to comments and suggestions or offers from join me in this . or anyone wanting to get their boat redone .. feel free to pm me or post here
More pictures of my boat to come each of the next few steps and the top cap going back on within a week or so.. if all goes well
