I found a location for my shop .. near Chester Frost ..and low cost half on any other garage Ive found and its near the house .. and near the lake .. can sneak off to go fishing when I get a chance emoLaugh

Now if I can just swing the rent and other start up costs .. I will officially be North River Boat restorations and repair soon. and I will be buying a banner on here .. I have a few big jobs lined up.. a house boat, and possibly 3 house boats ! Fixing the decks and some other cosmetic stuff .

So wish me luck this is just coming together like it was ment to be .. I prayed for guidance and help on the job situation and this started falling in place and everything is happening fast.. Im excited and scared at the same time .. but as long as I keep in mind that God is in control, and I keep him in the center of all I do I will be fine .

Ive never run my own business .. I've been researching all aspects of this for some time, and I think now is the time .. please all pray for me, I need all the prayer I can get right now .. and any seasoned business savvy CFF members guidance wouldn't hurt either !?

I prob shouldn't have said anything yet .. but .. I really could use some emotional support in this right now .. and yall are like family .. some a lil bent and twisted but family non the less emoToast

I couldn't be happier for you. You are going to be doing something you love and making money for it. I truly believe this area needs somebody else doing this kind of work as current options are not good.

Good deal man! You seen what all I have . If you need to uses something let me know. There are some stuff I would let you borrow, other used here. I seen your post on craigs last night. Hope it works out for ya!! I will send all that type of work your way as I am having to turn down glass work for all the engine work going on!! Go for it!!!! Did you talk to the guy I gave you his number with the shadow???

Great deal. Glad to hear it sounds like its working out for you. If you need help getting incorporated let me know You can use my articles of incorporation if you want.

Come to think of it.....I got another one I am going to give you this number. I don't have time for glass work. You going to get a Gel gun or try spraying out of big tipped paint gun? That place I get my gel from had the best price on the dump guns. Later!

Make sure you stop by and say HI LOL!!! If you have any trouble Finding it just let me know. Pretty simple, but I live here and been to his house.

NRG I feel you. When I decided to walk away from a nice engineering job to start my own business I was scared as poo poo and excited at the same time. Here is a little advice from someone who started a business from nothing and been going on for almost five years now. Don't start a corporation, taxes can be a real nightmare. If I were you I would make the business a LLC. Maybe a small amount more to startup, not sure exactly, but easier to do taxes. Make sure you have your record keeping in better shape than the work you do, because no matter how good a job you do, the IRS still wants their money. Plan ahead, never stop analyzing how things are done and if there is a more efficient or productive way to do things. Many business get started, get comfortable and then keep doing what they are doing, but if you do not implement continuous improvement the competition will eventually swallow you whole. Most importantly, which you already got, but don't forget this one. Always trust in the Lord.

p.s. I forgot, always do what you say you are going to do and treat people right, if you follow this the business will roll into your shop.

Tyler . the main reason Im starting this is

#1 I love working on boats

#2 Im tired of working on someone else's schedule and being laid off

#3 Ive heard horror stories about shops doing crappy work .. Ive done it this way for 30 yrs .. I dont need to learn anything new .. I dont care what the boat manufacture said I needed to use to fix, Im going to do it my way .. then the motor falls of a composite transom, cause the other shop used inferior and incompatible resins

#4 Bad attitudes of retail and repair shops no matter what kind, customer will always be #1 at my place, and they will always know what they are getting up front, and that what I tell them and put in writing is what they will get!

#6 Ever go try to ask advice on a DIY job or buy materials from a shop that offered that service ? Good luck!

I plan on selling materials to anyone that wants to do it them selves and off free booklets and rental of videos on DIY boat repair .. why not ? They prob cant afford to pay the labor to fix but can scrape up money over time to do it at home like Ive always done, and I can still make a profit off of the supplies and other accessories. Thats what I plan in a year or so .. after getting it off the ground

Ive checked in to the LLC lil steep for me at the moment may go LLC later .. but will definitely have insurance ! CYA
Customer service and doing the job right the first time is my moto either for my self or doing it for others!
