Ok guys and gals Im real close to having the sucker wrapped up .. at least wood wise,
floor and 90% battery / flotation box on left side, and 50% on the other side, all I lack is finish the boxes, put in gas tank shelf, and a few reinforcements here and there.

Then the top cap will be ready to go on .. I have 2 gouges to fix on the top cap .. got carried away with carbide burr cutting through the glass patches between hull and cap, but not big deal just another thing to fix .. before cap goes back on get new bilge and 90 degree livewell pump installed, a couple through hull fittings that got broke taking off the cap, easier to do now than later .. and then the cap goes back on

Here is pics of floor before top coat of resin and mat, and one of the battery boxes still in progress then below that is floor with resin and glass, and left battery / foam box, the last pic is the underside of the bow of the cap where TM mounts

It's cool seeing your progress. I was thinking you should put up a list of each cost item and tally the total cost this project is totaling. Kind of like they do on "Flip that House". Just curious what kind of costs you've incurred during this....

Well so far not really that bad .. and my wife doesn't read the forum lol

$200 for the boat, included trailer

$300 for boat motor 1987 Erude 90hp

36lb thrust bow mount motorguide 1999 model = FREE

Fiberglass 20yrs 1.5 oz mat $53 shipped but they never charged my account for it, I called they said they did .. oh well so that was free, locally that mat would have cost $6 per yard for a total of $120

BIAXIAL fiberglass cloth 24 of woven cloth with 2 oz mat bonded to it (scrap pieces 6 lbs ) $12

Polyester Resin - so far 13 gallons at cost of $275

harder for resin 28 oz $20

2 sheets of 1/2 A/C exterior grade plywood $60

1 sheet of 3/4" A/C exterior grade plywood $34

Flap Disks for grinding 6 at $4 each = $24

1 new 90 degree livewell pump Rule 750 gph $39 Ebay

1 new auto bilge pump Mayfair 500 gph - free

So far boat and all $964 , and I will prob spend another $500 by the time all finished , including paint, gauges, and misc bling, bring the grand total to 1500 aprox, for all after every thing is done ..

How many totally restored boats you gonna find for that ? Id say none, zip, nada

Yep, you got a good deal on that boat!!! $200 guy must have been crazy to let that one go!!!!!!!!!!LOL!!! Did you decide on colors yet??? I may have some. I told you I would give you the paint when you bought the boat. It is base coat. I will keep my word!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

White , off white , on the top cap and the area where the name is about a 6 inch wide strip that gets narrower to the front fade from the maroon reddish color like on the hydra z graphic on the side of the boat that fades into metal flake silver on the front ..
I want to get some sample paint chips to look at and compare to the hull color of white

But I prob could use your motor expertise when I get the motor mounted back on , or if you get over this way .. maybe you could help me go over it and crank it up .. see what it may need done to it if any thing serious before it gets put on.. its on a stand right now

I have some vanilla white which is the white you see on PT's and chargers. It is amost like a dingy white. I don't have any maroons but I do have some purple that is more redish than blue. 3 coats and it will pass for maroon. I will get the white out and meet you somewhere in soddy and let you look at it.

Water pump water pump water pump! 1st thing before you go far and pull carbs and clean or build. could have a jet that is 1/4 stopped up and will run fine (as you know it, cause you don't know how it is suppose to run on that hull) and hit your wallet hard$$$$$. Then while it is apart I will do some of my magic to that motor and having you saying, "WEEE!"

I can't wait to make the first pass in my "DEATH TRAP". IF I EVER get it TOGETHER!!!! Maybe my boat work will not be as heavy this year and I can get it together.

Mallard you are too funny! You're not far off that's for sure. Just curious. I think it's admirable and I wish I had the time and talent to do the same. Good job holding the costs down NRG.

Vanilla white would prob work, and the purple may look ok too .. I do LOVE purple, just dont know what the color combo with the reddish maroon will look like.

Water pump I have one that Id had bought on ebay for my 150 erude I had .. ended up getting two kits for 20 bucks on eBay .. and this will work on this engine too, water pump , carbs, thermostats, water jackets pulled and check for any junk in there, were already planned to be done .. this motor came from brackish water from FL but supposedly had new power block rebuilt and ran for 15hrs before moving to TN its turns over well .. but I have yet to put gas on it and really crank it .. fig Id wait till glass work was done before I messed much with engine.

A compression and leak down test will tell the health of the engine. Make sure that you decarbon it. The x-flows were bad about sticking the second ring. If done as a preventive measure you can keep it from happening. Sometimes it will reverse it and unstick them. But some cases end up on my work bench! Call me and remind me to put the paint in the truck tomorrow. Later!!
