Why? That person already had hate in their heart, a building is not going to make them hate more (or hate less). That is just silly.

WRONG! Slap me in the face once and I will be angry. Probably hurt you but if you let the issue die so will I. Keep on doing it and we will NEVER get along. It is only human nature.

It is only human nature for those whom already have hate in their heart. For "non-haters", it is a non-issue.

Wrong again! How many people will let someone kill their family and neighbors and not be angry? How many people will let the same group that killed their family and neighbors gloat and rejoice over their victory and not be angry?

How many people will let the same group that ...
Now you are sterotyping the mosque group with the terorist group. There is no nexus between the two.

Tell that to the 71% of Americans who are opposed to the building of this mosque near ground zero.

Inncorect BFish.</p>

"The Muslim group developing the monument to Islam’s most successful attack against the USA has declared, “We are trying to establish a full fledged Islamic Center in the lower Manhattan, only 2 blocks from World Trade Center, New York City, NY...” that “can accomodate [sic] 1,000 people to pray in Jamat [i.e. collectively] at one time.” Thus, Al-Gamal disclosed that, contrary to what liberal-progressive supporters of the mosque say, the real intent of the project is exactly what it is being challenged for: an ambitious mosque, capable of drawing a large crowd of believers, close to the former World Trade Center. Sounds to me like the intent is that the ground zero mosque is to be a destination for Muslim pilgrims to visit and celebrate the murder of thousands of infidels. To those who think otherwise - wait and see."</p>

....Thus, ....see."QUOTE] That entire section is op-ed piece, nothing to substantial what the "purpose" is (or is not). Find something more definitive than one person's opinion.

I think New York Mayor Bloomberg summarized it pretty good:

http://online.wsj.com/article/NA_WSJ_PUB:SB10001424052748703545604575407673221908474.html

....The attack was an act of war – and our first responders defended not only our City but also our country and our Constitution. We do not honor their lives by denying the very Constitutional rights they died protecting. We honor their lives by defending those rights – and the freedoms that the terrorists attacked....

Then neither you nor Bloomberg nor olbummer nor any other liberal should say a word of complaint when they celebrate their victories from their new crib.

Spur, read it again. Your quote does not support your view. Only the unquoted the opinion piece beginning with the word "Thus"

Wow, Ron Paul gets it, maybe the right is starting to soften rhetoric and actually starting to look at things objectively:

"The outcry over the building of the mosque, near ground zero, implies that Islam alone was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. According to those who are condemning the building of the mosque, the nineteen suicide terrorists on 9/11 spoke for all Muslims," Ron wrote in a statement to RonPaul.com "This is like blaming all Christians for the wars of aggression and occupation because some Christians supported the neo-conservative's aggressive wars."
