Oh look! a hornet's nest.....

...and although I'm not one to normally kick it, or use a stick to stir up the outhouse (my age is showing), I have a request and would like to know how others feel about it.
No offence to anyone, please, but I would like to see the "Fishing Reports" section be reserved for only current reports - say, within the last week or so. The old stories that are sometimes posted are interesting and entertaining, but I kind of hate to wade through old reports to find out who is doing what and where they're doing it. I use it and contribute to it regularly (OK, I'm addicted), and would like it to pretty much remain as it had been until recently. Could we open a new section for this called "Fish Tales" or something? I don't really feel that they belong here in General Fishing Discussion, either. I would like to read them - just in a separate section. And, as long as I'm poking the hornet's nest with the stick I used in the outhouse, how about keeping the Hall of Fame stuff for current catches too?

Eric, your request seems reasonable to me, maybe one of the new owners will see this post and take care of it or maybe one of the moderators will bring it to the owners attention.

I would agree Eric, I would love to see a forum dedicated to old stories, reports and such, kinda like that "Show us your old fishing pics" thread I started a couple weeks ago. I hope most folks wont see this as a hornets nest, just a good thoughtful suggestion.

Ya'll can blame it on me. Josh posted his reports on the Gen Discuss last night and I moved them to Fishing Reports, as that is what they were.  Hope 3 reports didn't ruffle too many feathers, and I'll PM TheAngler and see what we can do about opening up an "old stories" Specialty Forum!  Later, time to eat!

Brandon, I agree that with the current set-up, they belong in the reports section. That's why I thought maybe we could get a place for them - we all have a few and I'd love to see them (and even tell them!). Thanks for looking into the possibilities! This has been an occasional thing that has crossed my mind for some time, and if folks agree maybe we can get a new section.

I think it may take some programming on thier end but its a great idea! If we could even sort them by weeks would be cool. "FEB 3rd week" Also keep in mind that by formatting the reports with date, lake, species..would make it even easier to find things.</p>

We, Mods, can do the moving if writing a program is too tough or would take some time. I have no problem moving them so long as we all make sure to date those reports. Cool Idea! </p>

I couldn't agree with you more EricM. No hornets over here... I know that he was a new user and like when I started on here, someone who had been around a while, sent me PM's to tell me the do's and don't do's. That is one of the easiest ways to deal with thing you don't like to see. Just don't let someone like Tarheel respond to them!!!!emoPoke Speaking of hornets nest!!!

I agree the reports should be kept current and the Fish Tales idea is a great one. I dont have problem with thr hall of fame though. I think as long as it was caught in the area its worthy of the hall of fame.

I'm with Wade on this also. I agree with everything but the HOF. Babe Ruth made the Hall Of Fame and he deserves to stay there no matter how many Hank Aarons and Barry Bonds come along.emoBigsmile

I didn't mean to have old HOF entries removed, just not accept old fish for submission. There are several that have been recently posted that were caught years ago, yet carry a recent post date. Again not a big deal, but misleading and confusing when you page through, looking to see what big fish are caught in certain months. Same with the fishing reports - recent posts of old trips come up in a search or as you page through. Sorry I wasn't more explicit. These things could go under the new catagory of stories, braggin', etc.

Gotcha there Mr Mauer. I was getting concerned that my one and only HOF entry might go the way of the others I had on there when the blue cat requirement was raised.emoBigsmile Not that it really matters a lot to me about mine.
