I saw someone post about some deals at Carter's right now. DO NOT SHOP AT THAT STORE! I purchased a 22 handgun and have nothing but problems out of it since i purchased it. Trusting that they would take care of me, i brought it to them and asked for help. The people fed me reason after reason as to why it would jam or stove pipe after firing every single round. I tried different brands of ammo and it still did it. I asked the people to help me ship it to the company and they INSISTED that it was the ammo and not the gun. The person then told me to use nothing but HP MINI MAG ammo and it STILL jammed.

I will never do business with those people again and would advise that all of you do the same. I have known the owners since i was 13 years old and never had this horrible of an experience.

I am now trying to get warranty work done by myself without the help of people that say they are always there for their customers! It amazes me that they are more interested in getting a quick sale than helping a loyal customer!

RE: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

We are very sorry that you are having problems and would like to know who you have talked to at the store. I am one of the owners and would like to get the problem solved since you apparently have spoken to someone besides me. I will be at the store store tomorrow from 12-5 and would love for you to contact me there. I have not heard of anyone having a problem like this and we have always gotten the problem fixed. We have sent several guns to our gunsmith and taken care of the bill and we have sent guns back to the manufacturers for customers, but sometimes we do recommend that the customer call the manufacturer and pitch the fit with them because it does get the problem solved faster and I have some customers who have done this and gotten free product from the manufactures to cover the problems that they had. I really wish that if you have known us since you was 13 that you would come in and see the owners to get the problem taken care. We do sell guns and a lot of things and but like everything else in the world the warranty is with the manufacturers, we have stoppped selling some guns because of the quality and the warranties not being taken care of. Also some new 22 are very picky on the ammo for the first few hundreds rounds, I personally have a Walther P22 that only works well with CCI mini mags because it is still new.
We do take care of our customers and if your problem has not been taken care of, I will personally take care of it. I look forward to hearing from you tomorrow. By the way this is Kristi.

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

I agree Larry. My issue with them was 2 people listening to the model I wanted. Showing me the full set up WITH a price. I had cash in hand and ready to purchase. Decided to take a few minutes to ponder on the deal and went back in not 15 minutes later. When I told the guy I was buying, he pulled out the case and told me a higher price! Got the older guy over that knew what I wanted and priced it...and he even told me a higher price! Guess walking out for a few minutes raised the deal eh? Then some woman got involved and told me they told me all wrong. Hell....I walked out. Actually bought what I wanted cheaper at Benton's. Cheaper than what Carter's told me in the first place.

Now that's been a while and I would hope that you guys have identified and few problems in customer service. This isn't the first time we've seen post complaining. I don't rule out buying anything from there and think you have a great selection but I hope that the next time I visit, things go smoother. Thanks for posting on the thread and it sounds like you'll be taking care of the above issue.

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

Kristi.. it was not you.

It was your other partner that runs the store. What is bad is that I asked for you and was told that you were busy even though I had just spoken to you when I had walked in.

I believe some 22s can be a little picky about ammo but I shouldn't have to buy the most expensive box in the store for it to work. sure they are times when it is the Indian and not the arrow but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure something is wrong when a weapon jams every shot.

Oldman
I totally agree with you but I can't fix a problem that I don't know about. I will talk with the others and get this taken care of. If anyone has a problem with something that goes on at the store, please feel free to talk to myself or Richard about it.

Buoy-Master
I think you are talking about the previous owner, if you are talking about the old man, that would have been my dad. He is now retired and my husband and I own the store now. If there is anything we can do for you in the future we will be glad to help.

Scuba
I want to get your problem fixed, so please bring the gun and let's get this problem taken care of.

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

Sounds like the ramp needs to be sanded and smoothed out. And might try a new. Lip or leaving your current clip loaded for a few days to maybe soften the spring up.

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

I agree with Yfz45011. A semi auto uses some of the chamber pressure to load the next round. The smaller calibur rounds don't have much pressure or energy to work with and can be picky on ammo till they get a few hundred rounds through them. This helps smooth out the rough edges so to speak.

Kristi if u have to hold your employees hands to get them to do the right thing then why do you need them.i guess good help is just hard to find.i will bow out since i don't hunt or shoot but right is right and wrong is wrong.nuff said.

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

Actually, it would have been you and your hubby. He called you in on the deal AFTER selling a purchase to me. But that's ok. Like i said, hopefully a better experience next round. ;)

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

My issue back about a year or so ago was customer service. I went in to ask a few questions and apparently didn't appear eager enough to the lady and was pretty much ignored. The store only had one other person, and it was a younger lady that was waiting on me. I walked back in 5 minutes later to ask one more thing and she was doing paper work. I walked over to her, and she didn't look up, just said "What do you need?" The odd thing was I had been talking to her 5 minutes before and she knew what I was interested in. I told her to never mind, that I didn't want to bother her. She never even looked up. I have not been back or do I intend to. This isn't the first story of this type I've heard. Sometimes being successful makes people arrogant.

Try the Ruger SR22. My wife has one and it will eat everything we have fed it. The only failure were a couple of bad rounds.

The Ruger SR22 will eat about anything, while it is well known if you do a little homework that the Walther, ISC, and Sig can all be picky on ammo. I love the SR22.</p>

Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

I suppose you are subject to have a bad experience anywhere at times....But I for one have not had trouble at Carter's since the new owners took it over. I have also appreciated the fact that they have not been price gouging us like lots of others during the 'gun crisis.' As for the original reason for the thread, I can see how you were frustrated with the .22, but ammo is often the culprit with these guns. Maybe they took too long to make you happy but they didn't build the POS you bought...send it to the manufacturer!

My gripe with Carter's.....Pick up and sort your dang brass quicker so we can buy it! And instead of hand cleaner, maybe you should put out free Vagisil instead!! emoGoofy
