Re: DO NOT SHOP AT CARTER SHOOTING!

Why did you need to ship the gun??? I'm confused... Carter's didnt manufacture the pistol, so shouldn't you take up the issue with the manufacturer? Sounds like the spring is a little tight (as stated above) I don't think you should bash Carter's because somebody was having a shity day like we all do, and you may have come off brisk making the sales person a little defensive. I'm sure they will remember you as a valued customer now!

Brand new 870 Remington with an ejector tension spring misplaced from the factory. Took it back because I could see a very easy fix. I took it to them since it was brand new and I had just bought it from them. There is a way to pull the receiver and a very simple instruction to hold back a lever to reinstall. I knew this but the young man working on my gun did not. He Hammered it back in over-ridding the clip and instructions. I still have the marks on the gun and for that I leave it in the Safe unused.. It pisses me off to think about it.... Do not act like a Gunsmith when you are Not one. Or admit you can not meet the challenge rather than Whacking it with a hammer. I do not blame the Business, just myself for not speaking up more aggressively when I called the young man out from the back for banging the components..

I suppose you are subject to have a bad experience anywhere at times....But I for one have not had trouble at Carter's since the new owners took it over. I have also appreciated the fact that they have not been price gouging us like lots of others during the 'gun crisis.' As for the original reason for the thread, I can see how you were frustrated with the .22, but ammo is often the culprit with these guns. Maybe they took too long to make you happy but they didn't build the POS you bought...send it to the manufacturer!

My gripe with Carter's.....Pick up and sort your dang brass quicker so we can buy it! And instead of hand cleaner, maybe you should put out free Vagisil instead!! emoGoofy

I'd like to weigh in on this.. Im not mad at Carter's for selling me a defective weapon. I'm mad at how it was handled by the staff. The biggest point im trying to make is perception is reality. How am I suppose to feel valued when you tell me that it is me and not the weapon. Also, as a customer, we have all gone to best buy and places and had them say you must buy the latest, greatest, and most expensive cable for your new $100 tv to work. We all know that to be BS. When you tell me that my new 22 will ONLY shoot the most expensive 22 ammo and that it will not shoot anything else, what would you think? And how convenient at a time like this when ammo is short that you happen to have a half a box and you will sell it to me "for a deal" when a 22 should shoot just about anything you put through it? I wouldnt be complaining if they had simply helped me get it to the manufacturer and helped me get it fixed. By taking anytime to help me, this whole thread wouldnt even be here..

Well, I have bought three guns from Carters, as well as had a range membership for my wife and myself. My experiences have been a good one; much better than other local dealers. Question...how did you know she was there? If I was going to buy a .22 pistol I would do the homework to be sure what ammo works well with what gun. I know for a fact that certain ammo does not shoot well with the Ruger SR22. I stick with CCI and Blazer for that reason.

Every person I've known who has bought one of those Walthers has had problems with them.Perhaps you should have researched the gun more, tons of info online.you could have bought a new Ruger MKIII,or looked around for a used MKII and had a pistol that would work with most any ammo.

I wasn't going to chime in and say anything but I've only been in Carters 1 time and the workers there need some real training in customer service.

I live in Cleveland and usually combine trips to Chatt into several stops. I was below the dam wade fishing and wearing an older shirt with cargo pants. No holes in either of them, just older looking. While heading to Harrison Bay for some wade fishing, I saw Caters and pulled in to price / purchase items.

In the bank was $1100 from my fed return and was itching to buy a Ruger SR9c and accessories along with a pistol cleaning kit and gun safe. I went in and 3 workers behind the counter never even acknowledged I was there. I looked at the holsters, targets, gun safes and cleaning kits. I then went to the counter and looked for the Ruger's. The entire time every one was chatting it up with other customers and ignored me just 15 feet away looking at the 9mm's. For the record..... There were NOT BUSY!!! Just standing around with no one at the register or inquiring about products.

They had a SR9c I wanted and stood there while they acted like I was some bum off the street. 2 minutes later I just walked out to never return unless a friend invited me to shoot at the range. I spent around 20 minutes in that store and was ignored because of how I was dressed.

2 weeks later, Posey Gun and Pawn in Cleveland sold me the same exact gun with the lowest price match, which saved me from driving all the way to Benton which had the cheapest price for $410.

All said.... Carters lost about $700 - 800 in sales that day. I would have bought everything from them to save money in gas.
