on a 1987 merc 150 what would cause the right side to overheat the manual doesnt say alot about it.has a new water pump ckd the popet all ok.removed thermastats and still gets to hot to touch within a minute or two.has a good stream comming from pee hole and motor runs fine.its almost like the right side isnt getting enough water through it.

When you replaced the water pump was it all there??? If not, some of the pieces may be lodged in the passages that feed the block around the cylinders. They will generally run around 160-170 at idle and drop to around 140-150 going down the water most of the time. Is the alarm going off?

the old water pump was all there.we removed the r/s head and inspected everything and the top and bottom cylinder on the head was clean like it was being washed off by water.the gasket looked good and no cracks were found.we then removed the exhaust plate and inspected it and no problems were found.
