Here is a pic of the two ways to rig a Panfish Assassin. I prefer hooking it through the lips vs threading it onto the jig. Gator requested a pic, so here it is. Hope this helps you catch more Crappie and Shellcrackers. (Bass love'm too.)

I use the body hooked method myself but the lip hook method seems okay too. It didn't seem like the bait glided as well when I let it fall on slack line with the bait lip hooked. Just my observation.

i've been using that same chartruse color rigged through the jig and tipped with a tuffie. it's worked pretty well and i really like the other rigging method, have to try that out next time.

Thanks for the pic Drumking --- see this is what makes the CFF so great --- only at the CFF do you find fishermen helping their fellow fishermen catch more fish!

AHHHHHH Fishing Time in Tennessee

I have used them for several years now, and they are deadly on the Weiss crappies. :) A little tip is to clip off the jig's barb, so that it doesn't tear up the lure so much. All you really need to keep it on there is a little bit of a hump, and it will stay for a long, long time.

hey, DK....you posted earlier that you used a pumkinseed( i think) for bream...was that straight punkinseed or chart/punkin'

I like the 1" pumpkinseed curly tailed squirming squirt for Shellcrackers, bluegills, etc. The panfish assassins will kill them too, but sometimes a bluegill will short strike the bait and jerk the assassins off the hook if they are lip hooked like I fish them. I don't like those little critters beating me at my own game. emoUpsmile emoGeezer

I use super glue gel on my swimbaits/jigs and it makes a huge difference....I bet it'd do the same for the assassins.

I have been using the assassins for years as well. I have also found that no matter how they are rigged they are deadly. A 1/32 oz chartruse head on a Silver Minnow assassin is one of the best combos for big bluegill. When crappie are on the move they will hit just about every color there is. They also work very well trolling for crappie. Wal Mart has a few colors FYI.
