Phoenix Boats

I saw one at Reynolds Marine last year when I was looking at Allisons. I didn't like them. They are a low end boat but still over $40k for a 20 footer. For that price you can get a Stratos or a Bullet. For a heavy boat IMHO a Stratos 200XL or 201 are the best all around platforms out there. They ride good, are fairly fast, and they are competitively priced. You can also buy a Bullet for that price if not a little less. Contrary to what you hear, weight doesn't equal better ride. My Allison rides better than any of the heavy boats I have owned. With a 225 pro xs a 20 ft Bullet will run mid 80's tx loaded. You don't have to drive it that fast. You can back them down to 70-75 mph and easily get 5-6mpg. Gas is cheap again now but it probably won't stay that way long term. Lighter boats are also easier to tow. I would shy away from the Phoenix Line. They may be decent boats but it would be extremely hard to sell it if you ever needed to.

How much different are the Phoenix than the bubblebees that were previous built there? In other words are they the same molds or updated the old molds or are they new molds?

They look like a cross between a stratos and a triton to me, haven't seen one in person but here's some pic's

I bought a new BeeLine 286 ProVee this spring. I like it awfully well. From what I can tell, it is basically the same molds with beefed up transom and additional stringers. It is probably more of a entry level boat but it fishes very well, stable and the ride is very smooth. I have 150 Merc and can get 60 MPH on my GPS. It is not a high end boat like a Allison or Bullet or Nitro or a Ranger, but it suits my fishing style and needs very well. You won't get any lake cred in the boat but that is not what I was looking for. It was reasonably priced and suited my needs.

If you will go to the website Phoenix actually makes 2 different style of boats. The Beeline and the Phoenix.

the bee-line is basiclly a bumble bee hull with a little different interior, great price and very fast and they ride great. as far as the phoenix goes, this is what would have been the new stratos, super good ride, dry and fairly fast.you know, too go and fish areas like okeechobee, santee cooper or even guntersville, i dont think these lighter faster boats will hold up like these, and as far as gas and speed, triton with 250pro xs will run 80, whats 80 mph, back down too low 70's and thats plenty fast and guarantee a better ,drier ride. check out the phoenix, Gary Clouse is the owner and his engineers with him all came from stratos, they know what they are doing.

who needs lake cred.. that is one sweet boat. emoHoppingmad .. I would be proud one day i will have something nice like that.. now Im just glad my boat floats and runs good

You must be talking about an old triton because the new ones won't scare 80 with a 250. They barely break 70 tournament loaded. Also, heavier does not mean better ride, better durability or anything. There isn't a boat out there that will outlast a Bullet or Allison or ride better.

Sweet rig! Who cares what other people think about the boat YOU choose! emoThumbsup

I like it .. that is one sweet lookin boat , I personally cant stand the look of Allison boats YUCK! , Ive only seen a couple boats I truly love, Ranger, Bumble Bee ( B-Line ) or Phoenix, Bass Cat , and a Bullet or two If I was going to buy a NEW boat B-Line would be a top contender, It would be had to choose any one of these boats over the other.. They all have great features and are made well, In most bass boats Ive looked at the fit and finish are the deciding factors for me .. if you look closely at most mass produced boats like Nitro and others if you look closely inside and the components used trim, how floors drain, location of pumps etc .. most are pretty well thought out. But the boats that stand out go the extra step ..

I'm with Beetlespin, there isn't a better riding, better handling, faster boat than a Bullet or Allison. as far as the Phoenix...If I wanted a Stratos I'd go buy one...not a copy of one.

Exactly..The owners left to buy out Bumble Bee when Ranger took over Stratos. Most people in the industry are saying its a breed between a Triton and Strat...should be being that both companies were hand in hand at one time.

I'm not sure what the 2010 Model year will yield but if things don't get moving better in the first 1/4, look for merged dealerships and killer deals on 08 and 09 models with possible better incentives on the 2010 lines. Things are rough right now, we all know that. Tennessee Trailers is by far the OLDEST Trailer manufacture in the world and I laid off all my guys until March. Dealers will have to cut profits and manufactures lay out better plans to get this industry moving again....1st out and last in.

Just watch and shop smart in the next 3 months...;)

Do you think there is a point when manufacturers and dealers will have to sit back and realize their prodcut has become overpriced?

When oil ran up to the stratosphere the feedstocks that go into boat building resins went up with it. If it stays down where it is now the prices should ease up a little bit but not as much as they need to. Boats today are bigger and just have a lot more stuff on them than they used to. The motors are $15i$18k for the 225 hp and up models.
