It is definitely a chain pickerel. The muskie and northern pike lack the black vertical bar under the eye. The grass pickerel also has a black bar under the eye, but it noticeably slants towards the rear of the fish and it lacks the chain pattern. Unlike the chain pickerel which can grow up to 39" weighing about 9 1/2 lbs, the grass pickerel only grows to 15" weighing just over 1 1/2 lbs.
