Planning on going to the new Costco?

Hmmm......I go in Costco here in Huntsville every week. (they have excellent meats). I have a CCP, and I've never noticed a sign.

There is a difference between a law and a policy. One means you can be taken to jail the other means you will be taken outside. I guess I will take my chances with "policy". Tell you what, if I am "excercising my rights" and *&^$ goes down at Costco, I will make sure the store personnel ducking behind me is notified of their policy and see if they agree with me or the perp........ emoTongue

Not in Tennessee. If a business posts a no guns allowed that policy becomes law. Just like a no tresspassing sign.

My question is, why not just go to another store that wants the buisiness of the law abiding citizen?

Here is what Alabama says about carrying a gun in a business not your own. Even more strict.

Section 13A-11-52
Carrying pistol on premises not his own; who may carry pistol.
Except as otherwise provided in this article, no person shall carry a pistol about his person on premises not his own or under his control; but this section shall not apply to any sheriff or his deputy or police officer of an incorporated town or city in the lawful discharge of the duties of his office, or to United States marshal or his deputies, rural free delivery mail carriers in the discharge of their duties as such, bonded constables in the discharge of their duties as such, conductors, railway mail clerks and express messengers in the discharge of their duties.

(Acts 1919, No. 204, p. 196; Code 1923, §3487; Code 1940, T. 14, §163; Code 1975, §13-6-122.)

TN gun laws are g@#y anyway. And to boot, there is virtually no reciplocal agreement between AL-TN unless I work there. So Joe Minner can't carry there.

BUT I am 99% sure there is no place in AL that I CAN NOT carry except within 1000 feet of public protest and military installations. That means I can carry at church, school, Costco, Walmart, the mall etc. Now as with any "private property" they can ask me to leave, but I don't think I can be arrested.

I think State Parks and Forrests are a grey area though.

Tennessee gun laws may be whatever you are saying Minner BUT they do have a reciprocity agreement with Alabama. Tennesseeans are allowed to carry guns in more states than any other. Obviously the 37 states that allow us to carry in their borders do not think we are too g@#y. Instead of the "I think"or the "I don't think" you can look the information up easliy on the internet. Not from forums such as this or others but from the state web sites. Which is where I got the paragraph above stating that you CANNOT carry on private property without permission unless you are some kind of LEO.

Read the whole Title 11. What you have there listed in Section 13A-11-52 is who doesn't have to have a license (i.e. CCP) to carry. Further reading will show that a CCP holder is not restricted. Further more Alabama is considered an open carry state. I can LEGALLY carry OPENLY a pistol walking down the road, as long as I never conceal it or get in a vehicle.

FWIW here is the AL/TN recip agreement limitations.
