just gonna leave this here:

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."- Benjamin Franklin

Amendment I
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.- The Constitution

GOOD CALL guys.

Unfortunately, even with the “distancing” being in effect, exposure to this virus is passed on very easily. Touching anything that someone else has touched that is infected can pass the virus on. A truck steering wheel, a trim switch, a ball point pen, money, etc. the list goes on. The committee would have to handle everyone’s money which is a real issue. The numbers of those infected in our area are rising fast as more tests are administered. Many people have it but don’t know it. Statewide the number of people infected rose 18% in the last 24 hours.

See y’all at the next event; hopefully soon....

I don't get to fish with you often (1 time in five years) due to my occupation and work hours, but I know some of the committee members and it is the right call. As someone working long shifts in local hospitals this is not a time to take things lightly. If you do, it is at your own peril. I would hope everyone would take a moment to realize that fishing a tournament under these circumstances is not the most important thing right now. The truth is that the governor's executive order forbids it, "...Executive Order 17 prohibits social gatherings of 10 or more people..." so it becomes illegal.

If that makes someone mad, so be it. You were not down the hall when someone lost their life to this pandemic as I have been in the past few days. If everyone can get through this, there will be plenty of time for fishing in the future.
^^^^this is dead on^^^^ Very well said.

We still could have had a "Sullivan's Open" by filling out an entry form apart from the CFF and mailing out checks and wiping everything down. There's no way Silverlight can be held liable for anyone contracting 19. It could have come from a lure package or gas pump etc. I could see if they were the one's who stepped up and canceled us before the commitee vote - imo. I do realize that I fish solo and can remain iso but with that said, I understand the safety concern with partners etc. The ramps are a total cluster right now anyway. Even during the week you can hardly launch a boat . I can only imagine what a cluster it will be on the lakes this weekend. My advise is to ignore the gov opinion about groups of ten. Totally illogical. Two is too many. Stay iso, kick off your shoes before entering your home and be safe ya'll.
