I agree there TT,...it takes skill to know where and how to catch a bunch of fish. It takes a little luck to get a big bite or two to win a Tx. When you have both going for you that is when it gets sweeeeet!emoTongue Jmax

Since I can rely on neither of the choices, I'd have to say that my stunning good looks are more important ... wait ... well crap ... now I'm 0 for 3 ... emoCool

It takes skill to be at the right place. It takes luck to be there at the right time...

Seriously though, the more skill you have, the less luck you need...

If you become a student of the sport and spend a lot of time on the water you will become skilled. Also spending large amounts of time on the water will greatly increase your chances of being there at the right time thus being able to put your experience to good use. Drumking is a prime example of someone that produces a lot of fish. He is a student of the sport and goes a lot. Even DK has days when the fish do not cooperate. I do not believe in luck.

It takes a little of both. Skill puts you in the right place at the right time, but sometimes it is just luck. Like running into a school of bass that are in a jump boiling on a point! Experience tells you what has worked in the past and what conditions it worked under so you might get them to hit using old skills and methods. "Luck" for example, is often times the ability to hold a hook in a fish's mouth and not have it fall out a foot from the boat. I DO believe in luck. But I also believe in learning more and applying what I have learned to make me more skillful when I do run into a lucky situation!

Skill 90 %, luck 10% Skill to be able to put to good use all the knowledge that a person has collected over time, Luck that the biggest of your target fish will strike before a small one. emoBigsmile
