Privat Schools better than Public Schools.

I can't believe I didn't mention the parent thing, I must've lost it in an edit or something, dang. I 100% agree with the importance of parental involvement.

The whole point to this post was to prove that competition and private enterprise will be more efficient and get better results than gov't programs. This proves that there is no legitimate argument for bigger gov't..

uh, NO It doesn't

2007 Tennessee ACT Average scores...... Public High School Students: 20.30. Private and Home Schooled Students: 21.85. The same exam is given to all students. That's a lot of extra money to pay for a 1.15 point gain. Some are paying up to 50 grand for a 4 year private High school education ie GPS, Baylor and McCallie

Wonder what the percentage of students taking the ACT in the respective schools would be. I would guess that in public schools the percentage taking the test would be less than half wheras the private school would be close to one hundred per cent. This would skew the test results way in favor of private schools

Cheez I'm sure you're right. Students taking the Act's in TN public schools is around 70%, and varies by school district. Not sure what the percentage is for Private schools. I'm sure it's higher. Still, a child/parent that "Wants to" can get a quality education in the public school system. Private schools don't have to deal with truancy, trouble makers, and parents that don't care...... a much better learning environment.

Agreed.

Everyone is well behaved in this thread! Bfish acknowledged some of my points as being valid, Outcaster says Cheez is right, I agree with Outcaster...

Let's keep this vibe going, people.

I have always said that education is what the individual makes of it. Whether is be public, private or home schooling. I was married to a public school teacher for 18 years. Lots of junk going on in there. If a child succeeds after coming from some public schools then that child is far better equipped to deal with the real world. If the parents are involved in school and in the home the child will succeed no matter where the child is. The biggest problem I have with public schools is some of the liberal based trash they are feeding the children. Again though the kids learn right from wrong in the home. My kids were taught in public schools that the human race evolved from monkeys. They both know better as they were taught the truth at home. Lots of other things were shoved down their throats but they puked it up and came through with flying colors.
My oldest daughter has a successful career in nursing. She is a product of public schools all the way through college. My youngest daughter is a senior in college. She carries 4.0 grades every semester and is on the dean's list as well as being a member of several honor societies. She too will be a success in life. Public schools did not do this for either of my girls. It was simply a conduit for them. One thing I will say is that we did not wait until they were teenagers to correct and teach them. They were started down the right road before either of them could walk. When they got into the early teen years they were not allowed to watch MTV or any other such excrement.
I really feel sorry for many of today's kids. The parents are for all intents and purposes pretty much non existant in the children's lives. They expect the school systems and government and the boob tube to raise and train their younguns. This has been going on for nearly a generation and it shows in society today. Sadly I believe it will only get worse as more and more folks are shirking their responsibilities and expecting politicians to come up with some miracle cure. Government never will be able to cure our problems. EVER!
