With the new Gov plan on the way, Im wondering what is going to happen to all the people in our area who work for Blue Cross, Unim Provident as well as other private health insurance companies.

I have two family members and many friends who work for these two companies and Im worried about their job security and the effect it is going to have on our local economy. I know it wont effect them right away but five or ten years down the road, these private companies will not be able to compete with the government. Anytime the government gets involved in the private sector, the government wins!

Basically the people that will be going on these programs will create a need for adminisration. As with all government ran healthcare we already had, the government doesn't process their own claims, they contract that out. So basically the private insueres I assume will countinue to grow as they each bid on the adminstration of paying the contracts. I know each year a different segment of the Medicare, Tenncare, etc. does come up for bids and each of the private insurance companies then try to win them. I'm currently working under one of the above named companies, and I truly have no fear. I feel that the private insurers will obtain more members and the government is not setup to do the paperwork necessary.

I would think there would be alot of jobs open up working for uncle sam.

The worst part is the unknown. Maybe health care will be just as good with cheaper rates.

In the 1930's the government got involved in the private sector concerning electricity. After stronger protest than we had over health care, Families were forced from there homes and farms. Now we have Wheeler Lake, G-ville Lake, The Nick, Chicamaga Lake etc. and in that case I think we all won. I know I did.

Come on, let's get real. Name a single program the government is involved in that is run efficiently. Just one, that's all I ask. Now tell me it's going to be cheaper. What a crock of shit!!!!!!!! As my father says, the craziest fool in Moccasin Bend knows better than that.

It will be cheaper. The question is will the service be as good?

I am not saying this is the answer to the problem but anyone with any compassion or concern for others knew things had to change.

Have you priced tuition to a private college vs a public school?

What this means is the Foodsaver and Dhaun will be working for olbummer.

Sorry y'all but this government run healthcare bovine scatology has got to make us laugh. Hopefully by November we can repeal it. If not we are sunk.

Im sure some will move on to work for the gov but I still think many will be left behind to fend for themselves. If I were in that situation, I wouldnt bet on being one of the "lucky ones". I know my friends and family that Ive talked to have real concerns. If this goes through, I guess we will know for sure in a few years.

Like Nancy said, "We have to pass it to find out what"s in it!" emoToast emoScratch

TVA, run efficiently. Now that's just priceless. It's pretty obvious you don't know anyone who has ever worked for TVA. Ask anybody who has worked for them how efficient they run things. Better yet, go ask any of the several thousand construction workers at Watts Bar how efficient that job is. They hire about 10 times more people than they need to do the work and yet the projects ALWAYS come in over budget and past the deadline.

All I know is the end product is electricity and it is the cheapest you will find. Thats my only concern. But I'm not someone searching for something to complain about either.

aint funny cheez! All kidding aside Unum provides supplemental benefits. We got out of the health insurance game a long time ago. The only problem I forsee for us is all the small businesses we provide insurance for going out of business because they can't afford to provide healthcare to their employees.

True. That's why we all need to buy American made products when we can.
