KNOXVILLE (WRCB/TFP/WBIR) - A local high school standout, who signed to play for the Tennessee Vols this fall, was arrested overnight at a bar fight in Knoxville. Calhoun's DaRick Rogers was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Rogers was one of the highest rated wide receivers in the country coming out of high school. He decommitted from the University of Georgia to play for Derek Dooley's Vols.

Our NBC affiliate in Knoxville, WBIR-TV, as well as our partners at the Chattanooga Times Free Press first reported the large fight involving several University of Tennessee football players.

The co-owner of a nightclub near the University of Tennessee campus said "seven to 10" Volunteers football players were involved in a fight early Friday morning at the establishment.

UT spokespeople were gathering information on the incident and also weren't ready to comment.

"It was a regular Thursday night. We always give VIP status to the football players," Sandy Morton, owner of Bar Knoxville told WBIR-TV.

"We never had a problem with them in the past. All of a sudden they randomly started beating up a customer, another patron. Security intervened and got it [the fight] outside. They [the football players] proceeded to beat up an off-duty officer that was a customer."

Well, I hope DaRick is still happy with his decision to wear orange. Hey, if the shoe fits.....

This could get ugly...The off-duty cop was knocked unconscious and then repeatedly kicked while knocked out.

This is against NCAA rules. Players are not supposed to get any sort of preferential treatment. Although, players get this treatment all the time, I would imagine the bar owner coming out and saying it would give the NCAA reason to look into it.

It they get in trouble for that it would be salt on the wound with the on goings last year in Knoxville.

Its gettin pretty hard to follow anykind of sports anymore. 90% of college and professional athletes are just thugs. No way these thugs can actually pass colloge courses...

Hey dumbass, I'm not saying they don't pass and graduate from college. I'm just saying they can't do it by themselves... Most of them can't even talk

I didn't know that 18 year olds were allowed in bars. Was he served drinks as well? It's funny though when you guys barb back and forth when players/or athletic directors/or coaches get in trouble. Just imagine all the stuff that goes on we never find out about. At least in football they make players stay 3 years so college football is a little less of a joke than college basketball.

If tennessee is going to do good in the peinal league they have to get more players arrested so they can get their elligbilty. I think we got good poteinal for a national championship seeing as we have unlimited supply of players.
