So today is my mother in laws birthday. Decided to smoke a pork shoulder for the occassion. Woke up at 5am to get everything going and after 11 hours of smoking and an hour of sitting. Here it is!!!! Soooo goooood. Be jealous because it came out AMAZING!

I usually make my own rub and bbq sauce. But since i didnt know i was making this until friday, i decided to buy name brand. I used "Applewood Rub" i found at Walmart, I had never used it but the flavor was good. And as far as bbq sauce i used "Bullseye" origin. Personally, i dont baste it while cooking because i dont really notice a difference. Wrapped in foil for the last 3-4 hours is how i do it. I wish i would have taken a picture right when i took it out, before i pulled it. This was a picnic shoulder and was massive. Toasted some potato buns to make sandwiches, heated up some sweet potatoes, and made some rice and vegetable medley as sides.
