Has anyone run across a good map on-line of Chatt. Creek? I am not very familier with its path, and would like to study it. Thanks

Oh no you don't. Chattanooga Creek is extremely polluted. You are not supposed to even make contact with the water. The two main creeks that run into the river below the Chickamauga Dam are the South Chickamauga Creek and the North Chickamauga Creek. At the sharp right turn below Chattanooga on the left(I-24 side) is where Chattanooga creek dumps into the river. About a half mile downstream on the same side of the river, the Lookout Creek enters. At times the big grass beds in Lookout Creek pay off well.

If the Stripers are swimming four miles back into the South Chickamauga creek then I would bet they are stacked in the cooler and clearer North Chickamauga Creek. I would think that the deep water near the Hamill Road bluffs would be holding some nice Stripers right now.

I have a couple Kayaks for sale that would be perfect to get after the fish in those creeks.

Funny but trying to catch those shy Stripers in the creek is so much like stalking sneaky Snook in back waters.

You may want to try and catch them at night with zero lights showing into the water. They will shy away from lights. Watch out for snakes. On a job today in Alabame we had a runin with a big fat 4+ footr long Copperhead. I know my snakes, and this was a Copperhead, Not a Rat or Corn Snake.

Hoggerhead, you might want to try something like a soft jerk bait and see if they would hit it. It would be interesting to see if they would hit a swim bait or even something like a DOA shrimp immitation. You know that stripers are really salt water fish and I don't know that I have ever seen anyone fish a shrimp in Chickamauga or Nickajack. It might be fun to try.

When I'm going after hybrid stripers I loosen my drag and make sure it is "breaking" easily. I have had 4 pounders snap 20 pound test till I learned to back off the drag then I could go back down to 10 pound line and hook a bunch more. In clear water like your describing it sounds like trying to sneak up on wild trout in mountain streams. If you can see them they dang sure can see you.
