They are all just lying bastards! Just what is the difference anymore, really? There are all just loud mouth wolves in sheep's clothing, trying to sell themselves! What the "Old Democrats" once stood for, I agreed with. But I think that ended somewhere in the 50's. What the Republican's platforms became then, I agreed with. But now, I don't really agree with either of the parties. Maybe one, straggler here and there! No wonder so many have been switching party affiliations! They seem to be about as confused as I am. Now we have decided that there will be no limits on political contributions? {not that there REALLY was} Are you kidding me!? So now, who's got the most money? Who wants to buy an office? How much money have you got? Who can advertise the most, hire the best "Spin Doctors" and sway and scare the poor public!? Why does someone want to spend millions of dollars to get elected to an office that pays them, maybe a couple of hundred thousand dollars?! Come on people, it's just not that hard to figure out?! If I had those millions to start with, you couldn't pay me enough to be in the Congress, the Senate or anything else! I'd be kicked back somewhere getting fatter, older, fishing more and collecting off my interest and investments! Now don't start that crap about "wanting to give something back" to me! That dog just won't hunt! The bastards are after only one thing, you know it and I know it! The party system has at best, become no more that a high school ball game! "Us vs. Them" we are better than you, we can beat you! It's a "Cheer Leading" event! Nobody really gives a damn about what's going on to this country! It's all been dumb ed down and simplified to us and all that matters is "my man won"! And of course the candidate, and the people that think they are going to "get something" whether it's health care reform, welfare, lower taxes, entitlements, a social security cost of living raise or whatever, your still just "selling" your vote! IF ... you vote that is! We have all become divided. It's all supposed to about be the "United States" that are "of the People"!! Cities make up counties and counties make up states and guess what, those states are supposed to be the United Sates! All that the party systems have done is split "the People" up and fragment our power. Ever hear of "conquer and divide"? We fight, argue more between ourselves, and ignore our focus on the money grubbing politicians. I hate politics! I've vented ! I'm stepping of the soap box now! I Didn't use any verbiage that wasn't biblical!

Anger management classes are given at UTC. I know how you feel brother, most Americans are fed up with all that is going on in Congress.......Better days are coming , I hope..... emoAngel

Don't hold back el. I agree....whats the difference in a prostitute or Congress? Not much!!!!

Here's a little copy and paste directly from the Declaration of Independance. Our founding fathers knew that whats going on right now could happen...so they wrote the solution right there in the document that set the government in motion to begin with. We "The People" need to get united again and start over in my opinion!!!

That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government

If we replace every politican in washington tomorrow but keep the present system intact,in a few weeks the new people will be just like the old people.
The British aristocracy we drove out in our revolution has been replaced by our own version,a political nobility that is immune to the peoples will.
Ross Perot

Hmm, since you guys don't like what others are doing (and I don't blame). It is easy to be a cynic but have you tried creating solutions? Easy way I know how is to run for office, has anybody considered that?

I would like to think that my part is to leave it up to qualified people to run for office. Since I am 27 and no college experience, I dont think I would get to many votes. Plus, by the way things look in Washington, I am too honest to run for office. Huckabee 2010!

IMO....WE (the people) are not in control anymore anyways, big company's are in control, paying (probably not directly, like earl said why spend millions to get a job that pays a couple of 100k a year) the elected officals to vote for what they want/need. So it doesnt matter which party line is voted in anyways, they are going to do whatever they want to do.

... point is, Bfish and everyday guy can't aford to run for office! And if you, as an everyday guy, accept the pact money, then your bacically no better than the guys your ruunning against! Plus, your now in there pocket!

So how do you suggest that you and I.."The People" fix this problem? Is there anything we can do? Or do we just sit back and take it...and watch the country go down the tubes?

So in other words, the voters are too stupid to vote for an honest guy? I call BS. The best candidate will get elected most of the time, if they continue to do a good job, then it doesn't matter how much money the opposition throws to battle them.

Maybe I have too much faith in others to learn about candidates (just because I do).

Bfish, I didn't say the people were to stupid to vote for an honest guy! Where do you get that!? My point is, an everyday average "Joe" can't compete with the ad money the party candidates get. It has nothing to do with the honesty of the candidate, his or her great intentions or the public intelligence! However, public opinion is bought and sold by the spin doctors everyday! How do they do that you ask? Money! Advertising! And my dear Gentleman, if you actually believe that most of the time the "best candidate will prevail, regardless of the money the opposition has, then God Bless you Sir!

I am only 50 years old but I can never remember a major candidate winning when they spent less money than their opponent. I'm sure some have but I don't remember them.

According to table 1:
http://www.uwnews.org/relatedcontent/2005/December/rc_parentID13896_thisID13934.pdf

There were 14 races in 2000, 2002, and 2004 that the winner spent less that loser. So it appears that it can happen, just not as often. There was also about the same number or races of nearly equal expenditures.

So an honest man can't win?
