The south was occupied by northern troops after the civil war to protect former slaves and keep the old regime from regaining power. The KKK started as a terrorist organization to keep poor white southerners and freed slaves from voting or getting an education. The KKK would burn churches because the black community would use them as school houses and voting centers. Teachers and black community leaders were often lynched that disobeyed the KKK. Knowing the importance of an education many people educated there kids anyway even knowing the risks. After the Northern troops left in 1877 (Wormly Hotel agreement) the KKK began to loose its importance.
The KKK reemerged again in the 1920’s mainly protesting the new immigrants coming from Southern and Eastern Europe that were mostly Catholic or Jewish, unskilled, and rarely spoke English.
Today the KKK mainly protests Hispanics coming from Mexico.

Another thing Hank has a house on St. George Island. I met him at a restaurant in Apalachicola and almost did not recognize him in his shorts, eyeglasses, flip flops, and Hawaiian shirt. I guess my point is if you met him, thinking of him as a red neck would be a stretch.

Yes both Democrats and Republicans were part of the KKK. When the 1964 civil rights act was passed most Dixiecrats like Storm Thurman turned Republican. Johnson said he feared the Democratic party would never be the same after he signed the act into law.

I'll bet you my paycheck some of the same things were proclaimed at the hate rally, cheez. Bet there was talk about "spittin beechnut in some dude's eyes" too. Long live the King! lol The last time the "House of cards" fell, rednecks were in the soup lines just like the "commie lib" crowd, so don't kid yourself.

this is where once again you are wrong. Last time the house of cards fell there were no gimme a handout commie libs. There were city people and country people. Country people are referred to now as rednecks. Country people lived off the land and did not stand in soup lines. True country people will not be in the soup lines in the next collapse either

Most country people did not know the difference during the depression. They did not have much before or during, at least that is what my Great Grandmother use to say. My Great Grandfather would get laid off at the mines, because they lived in company housing he would move his family below Ketners Mill and run trot lines. He put the fish he caught in baskets and once a week a peddler from Chattanooga would come by and barter for the fish. Thats how they made it.

Kinda sucks when the shoe is on the other foot!!! Byrd was by all acounts a big govt liberal. He had more earmarks coming to his state than any other congressman at the time. By the way did I mention he was named a Grand Cyclops of the KKK. Cyclops are the recruiters for new kkk chapters.

1868.Nathan B Forrest disowned the CCC/KKK after they became too extreme. The original intent was to protect the rights of Southern businessmen and land owners....the story goes on for several pages.
Red Necks were discussed in another forum...they were W VA coal miners, that fought the government and big business.Several were killed by the Army that was sent to protect big business.
A union was a good thing...Back Then...times do a change.

If Republicans are against big business like they proclaim, why do they not say so? If the capital gains tax is raised, businesses will spend more money here. Take the write offs and gain more wealth. That is the motivation. Lower the tax rate, I pay my taxes and invest in other markets. Whole purpose of tea bagger movement is that they represent top 1 percent. So, I spend money on internet to create corporate puppets, then I take money elsewhere. No need to reinvest, plain and simple. Throw in religion, abortion, and more taxes and hit a home run. Oh My God, what BS.

Why is anyone against Big Business, don't they hire the masses? It's just a ploy::"Repubs are for big business, and Dems are for the working man"...You can't have it both ways. The Dems are for the working man to be dependent on them. The more you are dependent, the more you have to rely on the government.Create more programs so the People will sit on their butts and draw government assistance, in one form or another.
ie; Nevada...people are refusing jobs at $9 per hour, because they can "draw more on unemployment." 100 weeks.
When 1% pay 50% of the federally taxes, the structure is wrong.
Why should a companiy invest in an uncertain future,? take the $$ and invest in jobs in a country that is stable. +++ the taxes are outragous in most states, not counting the fed taxes...but Texas is booming, wonder why??? if you don't know, then you should not be trying to figure out how to make change for a dollar.
I spoke with a man today who owns a company in Brooklyn ,NY. and he is thinking about moving his company to Texas, because of all the regs, taxes and bureaucrats in NY.
It's the Old Politicians that need to GO, either Dem or Repub...they are in too deep to even think about saving America.
Tea Baggers represent a great cross section of the people. Get the hatchet out of your head. or your head out of sumpin'

The tea party has been responsible for taking I do think about 7 governor seats and several senate seats in the heart of Democrat country. Look who the Dem's are getting to come to their fund raising drives, It sure ain't obummer. They distance them selves from him and his bunch as far as they can now. I do think they are running scared, if not then they better be.
