good post xrfox... I love bowfishing, please PM more detail about what CAG is doing?  You ever bowfished Wheeler?  There are some monsters down here.

Something I didnt see on here reading this, was that I have seen numerous people keeping game fish that were under the legal length as well as over the limit (numbers you can have). Tx fisherman can not and do not do this.

yes we have shot a few tournys down there once a year! it a great lake for some good grass carp!! ill pm you on some info this week sometime!!

Bowfishing can be a LOT of fun. Been years since I've done it but I used to love getting out in the canoe and tracking down big gar and carp.

i've only fished one crappie tourny and i released my fish. although alot of crappie anglers like to keep their catch i release mine. that tourny was at chester frost park. a year ago at almost this time of year i launched at chester and when i went to trailer my boat there were several keeper largemouth floating belly up and half dead. if you ask me whoever held that tourny was not caring or releasing the fish properly. im only 21yrs. old and i am worried about what my children are going to fish for when and if i decide to have any.

This topic has been posted many times on CFF. I think there is better education nowadays on how to take care of Tx fish and mortality reduction. I have read some posts from local Tx anglers who go to extraordinary means to take care of their fish so I know there are some setting a good example for conservation and following good practices. I think the key is in education and the policies the Tx directors have in place. There is risk of mortality with any fish that is caught and released, but I am happy to see catch and release so prominent in this area.

Personally, I am more concerned with the poachers who keep everything they catch violating creel limits.
