The beloved New York Times. Where else!

Thanks for the link. They quoted Becks estimate which still seem to be really high compared to other news outlets.

Glenn did say it could possibly have been 500,000 or more, but NBC said they thought it was somewhere more in the 300,000 range.

From the above article.

"Without official estimates, any numbers published by reputable news organizations — like the 300,000 estimate — quickly got picked up and repeated enough to almost become fact. Domenico Montanaro, an NBC News off-air political reporter, tweeted Saturday that a Parks Service official said there were probably 300,000 to 325,000 in attendance (even though the Parks Service wasn't officially counting). The New York Times cited NBC News' estimate of 300,000, and the Drudge Report amplified the tally even more.

On Monday, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough repeated 500,000 several times during "Morning Joe." (That's the number organizers of the event gave to The Upshot on Saturday.) Beck said Monday that he didn't think there were a million people there as some have claimed."

I would say 89K was a VERY low estimate.

News does not report the news. 300,000 is a conservative estimate.
It was an American Rally, not political, religious, or a Tea Party movement. T ax E nough A llready= TEA.
MAN, I don't think I've seen so many "cry babies" that cannnot stand on their hind legs and think for themselves.
The trash they left behind was VERY LITTLE. Have you ever seen a picture of most rallies and the garbage that is left behind....shuwie.
It's a moral thang, guys.....you cannot buy it, neither can you inherit it,you have to build it from within.

Not that it matters, but where did CBS get 87K from? Why not 85K, or 90K? Did they have turnstiles? Memorial officials at duty in the rally the estimated count of the people at the rally is almost 300,000 people. I agree that it was a lot of people, and from what I have heard, it was not politically based.

Pic showed a lot of people...

Not that it matters, but where did CBS get 87K from?
From the article that Bprice linked to (thanks):

CBS commissioned an estimate from AirPhotosLive, a company that provides crowd sizes based on aerial photos. CBS noted that there's a margin of error of plus or minus 9,000. So, by this estimate, there were as few as 78,000 attendees or as many as 96,000.
Unlike CBS, most news organizations balked at getting that specific (or hiring professionals to make a head count)

The photo does not show all people that were there.
The US Government/Park Service stopped taking head counts years ago (so they say) at the "Mall". for political reasons. nuf said
