I had a great time and I think CFF 4 was a great sucess! I want to thank all who participated. Everyone had a great attitude and meeting eveyone was fun. The fishing was fun also! I caught a lot of healthy fat 14 - 14 1/2" fish, but only 2 keepers. Jmax and I had a decent limit of fish, but we needed that one "kicker" fish. About 15 minutes before we came in for the weigh in I hooked a fish on my finesse rig. I said "Oh Oh this is a good one" to which Jmax upon turning around and seeing my doubled over rod said "Man you're hung", to which I said "Noooooooo - this is it!" The fish then came up and Jmax said "Oh it's just a catfish --- I'm not helping you --- I'm bass fishing" - The cat didn't want to come in and on the 6 lb line I had to allow it to make a couple of runs before landing it. It was about 6 lbs or so and if it would have been a bass would have made our day, but that's how what ifs go!!!!! Like Jmax posted we caught all our fish on our pattern we found the week before. The fish had moved a little shallower, but were still there. My congratulations to NRG and his partner Zunker. They did a great job and I was impressed with NRG's crankbait. I'm not a crank bait guy, but the proof is in what works and the fish like his baits! I also want to thank Flip1up for being event coordinator and Jmax for handling the money and keeping up with the weights and letting me tag along as his partner. Thanks also to RangerRob for the buzz baits he donated for 3rd place! I will put mine to good use. I want to suggest that NRG offer a couple of his winning crankbaits as prizes for an upcoming event! Everything went smoothly except the launch and I think that even is a testiment to the laid back nature of our events. The atmosphere at our events is not "cut throat" win at any cost and I like that. I took a lot of pictures at the event. I am sending them to Dhaun now. I want to apologize to anyone who got overlooked. I learned a valuable lesson. While my phone camera takes pretty good quality pictures (like the 9 1/2 lb nickajack bass posted earlier) I didn't know how little memory it had since I had never taken a bunch of pictures at one time before. I'm afraid some of the pictures got overwritten when I didn't know the memory was full. If your picture was taken and is not posted then that is what happened. I'm very sorry for that. The reason it has taken so long to get them posted is that I found that I have to send them one at a time to my e-mail account (which takes a while for each one) then use a photo program to save them and then repackage them into a folder and send to Dhaun. I suggest that all event photos be taken with a regular digital camera not a phone camera in the future!

Enjoy God's creation!

Well said CCSM. I thought the staggered, go a few at a time, then since they are going I am, launch went very well. It was light enough and the last boat was almost in the water, everybody took off within 30 seconds of each other. Thanks to CCSM for the prayer before take off also.

Second page fish limits across the top are as follows,
1st pic is NRG"s and Randy's 1st place at 13.37lbs.

2nd pic is Jmax's and CCSM's 3rd place at 10.31 lbs.emoBigsmile

3rd pic is Ashtray's and Allen's 2nd place at 12.05 lbs.

Congrats to NRG and Randy for putting togather a real good pattern on a pretty hard day.emoThumbsup I really did think someone would have 15+ lbs and also there would be at least one over 5 lbs but Nrg and Randy weren't too far off.

I am really looking forward to the CFF5 on the Chick so everyone mark their calenders for May 6th so everyone that didn't make this one can make the CFF5. I got with Flip and he agreed to be with me on this one as well so we are going to do it again. Guys as smooth and laid back as everyone was you all made it very easy to put it togather and do it. I have done a lot of tournaments and you all make it easy. Thanks to everyone for a great time.emoThumbsup Jmax

I also wanted to thank my partner CCSM for taking pictures. Even if he did finally catch the "Big one" and got the wrong species.emoBigsmile

NRG, that crank has to be one of the best sunfish imitations I have seen, especially for stained water. I'm still kicking myself for not trying that pattern...I caught buck bass the day before on a bluegill popperemoBang. Could you clarify your pricing? Are you requiring a minimum purchase of six cranks for the general public or for CFF members as well?

Pricing on my lures .. Id rather sell 6 at a time .. because the painting of just one lure is a pain, too much waste of paint .. Ill go ahead make couple doz, and sell any CFF member one or more at 15 bucks each. But you must have been a cff member before sat tournament. All others they are 18 each. I hand tune each one .. make sure it runs true. Ive not sold any b4 still feeling out the lure buisness, not sure if I want to sell them or not yet .. they are alot of work to make. And I dont know if I can handle large volume if they get too popular .. guess I could always keep charging more and let the demand set the price. But the payoff is sweet when ya catch fish on them .. and dont wana have every Tom, Dick, and Jane using them either or they won't be as effective. Im also going to make some soon with rattles, but even in stained water as of now the fish dont seem to have prob finding them. Also For the 2nd place and 3rd place teams from Sat CFF4 I will give you one each ( 2 per Boat one for each team member) .. and will do so at CFF5. You can either meet me some where and pick them up or wait till CFF5. I ment to do this Sat but got so excited forgot

I didnt have a scale.. so had to just give wild guess.. I said 15-18 lbs was closer to 14 my buddy said 12 .. I need to get a scale had rappala digital scale , my 4yr old decided it needed fixin .. so he fixed it with a hammer.

Oh and Jason .. wait till you see it in the water .. and feel the vibration .. they rock!

That's great NRG, me and CCSM were both saying on the way back from the CFF4 we wished we had one of those. I'll just get mine from you at the CFF5 unless I see you at the Wal-Mart charity tournament this coming weekend. You know I was just picking on ya about the weight guesses. RR told me I needed to lay off of him for a while so that one seemed like a good one to talk about.emoBigsmile I can't pick on RR about no fish this time he wieghed in a couple nice ones. I look forward to trying out that bait of yours. Thanks!emoCool Jmax

Given the cost of hand-made cranks, NRG is tossing out a pretty good deal given that lots more are going for $25 - $35 EACH. Plus, if I ever needed some, I'd rather get 'em from one of "us" than a face-less name on the internet.

Freebird and I had a bizarre day, to say the least. Our first spot yielded close to 15 bass all on a 40 yard stretch of bank in under an hour. The drawback ... only one would keep. It was a nice one though at about 3 lbs. The rest were chunky and mean, but all short. We threw back 3 or 4 that were 2 lbs each, but 14 inches long. We also had another solid keeper come off about half way back to the boat. Then began the milk run ...

We basically went the rest of the day w/o much action 'til the last hour. That's when we were at the epitomy of our junk fishing and found ourselves in a rather inconspicuous looking cut. I had a 2+ lb spot come unbuttoned right at the boat, then nearly on back-to-back casts put 2 solid keepers in the boat ... both LMs. We both firmly agreed we didn't junk fish soon enough.

What a day to be on the water though. It was great sharing a boat with Freebird - as always - and great seeing my homies.

Kudos to Pointer as well for taking a kid fishing. That had to have been a thrill for him and if wasn't 'hooked' before, he darn sure will be now. Classy move dude ... my hat's off.

You're welcome on the DJW donations, Jmax and CCSM. Ya'll just put 'em to good use!

Thanks for the prayer CCSM. It was a comfort to know that our brother Tater was being remembered while we were out goofing off. I thought of him plenty during the day and wished he could have been with us doing something far less meaningless, but he had more important things to deal with.

After reading carolf29 report on the CBA tournament, where she talked about her husband having a couple dead fish saturday it made me realize that none of the fish that I weighed for the CFF4 T were dead. Great job keeping them alive everybody. Sometimes it just happens, seems like when it does happen its more than one fish. Remember going forward that its getting hotter and hotter and we all need to do what we can to take care of our fish. Nothing worse than getting knocked out of a pay out at a T because of dead fish. In the past some of the folks have posted good ways of keeping fish healthy, one good way is to freeze water in plastic containers and put them in your livewell, 20 oz. cola bottles will fit well in your cooler and dont take up more space than ice. Dont open the containers though, chlorine in the water cant be good. BPrice says that rejuvinate is a great product, maybe yall can give everybody some more ideas.

Wow NRG --- when I posted that you should give some of your baits as prizes for future events I didn't think you would make it retroactive to CFF4 ----- You're a class act --- shirt and allemoThumbsup. Thanks for the crankbait. I won't be able to make CFF5 as I have a commitment to honor with my lovely wife, so please pass my NRG hand crafted crankbait (I just feel I will catch some good fish on it!!!!!) to Jmax and I'll get it from him. Again thanks for the contribution. Everyone from the CFF are the best emoWorthy emoWorthy .

By the way let's all continue to remember Tater and his family in the passing of his wife's dad in our prayers.

Everyone be good!

Thanks for the report NRG. I couldn't make the CFF but I have a club tourney out of Shell Mound this Saturday morning. I might have to try your little cove first thing while the rest of the guys are heading up river to Mullins Cove. Thought I would also try Cave Lake and the cove right by the Interstate, I've had good luck there too. I would love to get hooked up with ya'll but so far the dates haven't worked out. Thanks again for all the reports!

Joe

Make that two going out of Shellmound this Sat. We also have a USA Bassin T launching out of there, Outcaster. Several of the Forum members fish that series, so you might still get to meet a few of us.

See you Saturday ... and leave a few out there for me! ;)

Good deal RangerRob, I have a dark blue Triton TR-19 and I'm a small guy, easy to miss....all 6'4" and one biscuit away from 300 of me. Would love to meet some of you guys.

We are a small club. It will be like 10 or 12 people/5 or 6 boats. How many folks will be going out with your tourney?

We'll probably have about 10 - 12 boats Outcaster. I'll be looking for you to get a face and handshake. I'll be in a burgandy/silver Ranger with a Johnson one-fiddy. I'm not hard to miss either ... I'm 6'4" as well and strikingly handsome emoLaugh .
