Man oh man what a day, My wife, grandson and I were headed out to Harrison Bay to see how the fish were today because our grandson is shipping out to the Army in a few days.

We stopped off at the bait shop just before Harrison Bay, picked up some bait and supplies. We pulled out on to 58 headed toward the Bay and just before Hunter Road, some idiot in a fairly new black 4 door Chevy truck tried to run us off the road. He turned so close to the side of our truck it is unreal, then he came within a foot of our front bumper as he darted right in front of us, sped up and slammed on his brakes.

I was doing about 45 miles an hour driving a 4X4 Toyota truck pulling a 24 foot pontoon boat. I slammed on my brakes and was sliding right toward his rear end, I got within a foot or two and he took off. Had he not taken off, I would have tore the rear end of his truck and the front end of ours up. There was no way for me to stop sliding. He flipped me off as he tore out up Hunter road. I have no earthly idea what set him off. I know for a fact I did not pull out in front of him. To say I was angry is to say the least. Be careful out there you never know who is mad about what.

Well to top that off, we put in at the Bay and fished for several hours, the wind being out of the east just turned the fish off, at least for us it did. Several bass fellows did pretty good from what I saw. The fish just didn't like what we had today. We had anchored down in a cove and decided to go to the bridge to see how the fishing was there. Of all things, I could not get the motor to go into forward gear. It would go into reverse but not in forward.

I tore the control box apart and got it into forward after taking the controls apart. I didn't bother to put it back together right then as it is a real pain and I was afraid it would do the same thing again. So here we head back to the ramp with just forward gear, I had to by pass the neutral switch to make it stay in forward because it was so much trouble to get it to go in gear in the first place. Good thing I had the hot foot or I would have been in trouble.

Back at the ramp, I got the truck and backed the trailer into the water and there was another pontoon that had been sitting in the parking lot of a good while talking to each other as if they had just pulled out of the water. I looked up and here they are backing right toward me. I was in their blind spot but a fellow on the pontoon didn't tell the driver he was headed right in the same spot on the ramp that I was. I pulled the trailer out real quick to keep him from running over me. I waited until they got their boat in the water then I backed in.

Remember all I have is forward and no neutral, no reverse. They set right in front of the ramp where I nor anyone else could load or launch. The wind was blowing me away from the dock so I had to crank up and hope they got out of the way in time, finally they did move, I loaded up and came home. The ole saying a bad day on the water... not true.

Thank God you got home safe. You never know what is going on in someones mind nowadays and if they are armed. Crazies on the road and the water.

There are scammers out there that will pull in front of you and slam on their brakes so you hit them and then claim they are injured to get insurance money. I've heard they will work in pairs (two cars) so their buddy is a witness.

You just never know what is going on in a person's mind. I still have no idea what set him off. He for sure almost got the rear of his truck tore up. There was no way I could have stopped. It could have been a scam like that but the truck was almost new.
