Cloud cover and non-existent wind... Valentines Day was the perfect day to sample the Chickamauga Lake crappie fishing. I caught crappie... good numbers of crappie. But the highlight was the bass of a lifetime... 12.6 lbs. caught on a 5.5-foot B'n'M rod/reel loaded with 6-pound test line, trolling a 1/16th oz. (red/chartreuse) Crappie Magnet jig. The fish jumped once and I knew it was a good bass... but I had NO idea how good until I finally got it to the boat LOTS of minutes later. emoEek Happy Valentines Day to me. emoHeart

You can read more of my story, and get an update on the Chickamauga Lake Florida bass status from TWRA Biologist Mike Jolley here: http://bit.ly/2kr69IH

BTW, thanks to the guy I bothered to take my picture. I was rude and didn't even get his name. :(

emoWorthy Nice..that may be a line record....great catch...... emoGeezer emoUSA

I checked that... the line class world record on 6-pound test is 16 lbs., 9 ozs., out of California. Wouldn't have mattered since I released it... but I'll admit I might have been a little heartbroke if I'd found out it was.

Great Fish !! Richard. Cant say much favorable about your line or rod or reel size. emoPoke Very cool, your lifetime best fish caught on a crappie jig. Great stuff and nice job getting that fish to the boat with your crappie gear. Bet the Bass Guide business will pickup quickly. Happy for you. I think I know the area you were in, but so do a lot of other folks on here.

Regards Norman
