Saturday Crappie 5-20-2006

Fished 3 1/2 to 4 hours today and landed 15 keepers. Bobbed around in Savannah creek and watched the jet skis and water skiers having a lot of fun. I found some Crappie in the river just before the lightning ran me off the lake. I caught 4 in about 10 minutes. All fish seemed to be about 12-14 feet deep.

You're right fisherpal. That creek is narrow and it looked like a blast off that BASS used to do years ago. I got behind 1 dock that provided just a little protection, but not much. I found some fish on another dock in the narrowest portion of the creek and the skiers were going by within about 15-20 yards or less, from where I was fishing. I took that as a challenge. Most of the time I will just move off and go find a place where I can find solitude, but I wanted to learn a little bit more about catching Crappie under adverse conditions. The fish were deep enough that all the boat traffic didn't seem to bother them at all and I chose not to let it bother me. I must be mellowing out as I get older.emoGeezer

Sometimes they don't think of what they are doing to someone else when they are ripping thru the area. Glad you got in and out safely and had a good time. I bet if you had been at the ramp at the end of the day when the storms blowed in they would run over evryone trying to get out of the water too..emoLaugh
