This has been weighing on ,my conscience all day. Fished a tournament today and watched a man throw an eleven pound bass ten feet up in the air by its mouth to release it after weighing it in. Is this a common practice cause it sure left a sour taste in my mouth. With all the pressure this lake receives and the poor fish handling I witness day in and day out severe not going to have a healthy fishery much longer. Thanks for letting me vent.

It's a shame. The lake is too good of lake right now to treat fish like that. It will never last.

You're a better man than me...I would have kicked him in the nuts then pushed him in the water...then asked him how he liked it.

Now I am in no way defending that persons actions, believe me. I also know this time of year that fish probably wasn't no more than 5 -10 fow so tossing it up in the air to smack the water was totally unnecessary. I do know however that if you throw a Crappie back in on its side like a belly buster, yes with a little extra splash, when they come from deep water the bladder releases a little pressure and the fish is able to go back down. I have seen it work.

When the lake is fishing again like it was 15yrs ago and we are all wondering where the fish have gone we'll remember these stories. It is sorry that the actions of so few effect so many whether they realize it or not.

Where they were releasing the fish was inches deep but the dock was 20 feet away with plenty of water. So they were throwing them up in the air out to deeper water. At least two guys released their fish that way. This maybe OK to some folks but I didn't like it.

I'd be happy to put his boat and fishing gear in the empty spot in my garage if anyone wants to help me take it away from him.

You cannot fix the gene pool! Tournament Director should be aware and take steps too see it does not happen again.

The tournament itself was well run, not sure they can control that aspect, although the rules stated that after fish are weighed they become their property.
