A little rain, a little sleet, a little wind, and (very) little sun, wonderful day in the neighborhood. Started out going toward the dam, bounced on the chop enough that I hung on to the " oh sh*t" handle to keep my seat. That is not because Mike is a bad operator, just the south wind. Got to spot one and caught fish. Had three in the box by 8:30. Bite was tough, between the wind pushing the boat, bow in the line, and a soft bite. All three came on a senko. A jig or u-tail worm didn't work. Made another pass, and Mike catches his fourth fish. Got to cull, and it is only 9:15. All three now are 16+. This was the same area we had the winning sack two weeks ago, and Mike got 1st in our club, grandson got third last week, same spot. Boat was in 8-15 fow, and some docks in the area. Caught them all pitching toward the shallow water. Made a move to the opposite shore and got out of some of the wind. Fished from 2-20 fow, no keeper fish. Ran back up the lake, started on a point and worked downstream. Got out of the wind some, and caught a bunch of short fish, even had a spot that wouldn't cull. Mike throws at an isolated log and gets hit. The fish had him wrapped for a little while, and finally swam out. Was our largest, 3.5+ lbs. Finished in the park, again trying to stay out the worst of the wind. Ended with 8+, and a limit for a change. Also tried a shakey head and a wacky worm without success. Did not fish any moving baits, like square bill, chatterbait etc. Caught a couple dozen or so, five keepers, culled to three. All the catches were on the river, around the last break toward the shore. Didn't catch any keepers in the shallow pockets. Congrats to Earl and Tim on their win. Thanks to the committee for another good event. See everyone the end of April.
