It's been 20 years since my friend Jimmy and I found our friend Wade laying under a tree from a fall out of a deer stand. That Spring we started a Memorial Tournament to honor Wade By putting on a Smallmouth Tournament on his favorite lake Tims Ford. The first year was hosted by Jimmy Holt the Outdoor TV Personality. We raised money for Dream Makers an Organization that gave Terminal kids a chance at their dreams. Since then We have lost Jimmy and now He is also honored along with Wade. Both were old school Smallmouth guys who got their start on Center Hill back in the early sixties. Both loved to throw the little hair jig on light line and they were both very good at it. There has probably been more smallmouth caught over the years on hair jigs than all the rest of the lures combined. March the 23rd marks our 20th year and Sons Wade JR. and Steve are carring on their Dad's legacy by continuing the Jimmy and Wade Day Tournament. I went over there to get a little practice in Tueday by myself and it dawned on me how many friends I have made thru fishing. I'm getting a little age on me now and I still can't get enough of feeling that peck, lord knows how much time and money I have spent chasing these critters over the years but as I reflected back it's been worth every bit of it. I told my wife when I die to be sure and put a little brown and orange hair jig in my casket just wouldn't be right with out one. Do yourself a favor and call up a friend and net some fish for them cause I'm telling you life just ain't long enough.
