soft plastics?

I just throw them all over the boat and then have to tear it apart to find them. I start out with them in a binder from BPS, but as the fishing day wears on they end up all over the boat.

Same as jtf, I put them somewhere in the boat and loose half of them. Buy more and loose them. Buy more and find the others I lost and then have all I need for the rest of the year.(Unless I loose them again.)emoLaugh Jmax

I have come to learn that keeping them in the bag that they came in is the best way to keep them organized. LOL Yes, you will end up having a million bags all over the place, but it's the best way I have found. If you did try to organize all the soft plastics you use, you would have several trays.

I have 6 categories; worms, craws, lizards, jerkbait/stickbait, finesse, and creature bait. I keep them in their original packaging and cram all from each category into a large ziploc and label with a fat Sharpie.

That's a good Idea Jason, except at last count I had 243 bags of plastics. That was last year, who knows now. Some guys tend to look at you funny when you get in their boat carrying two tackle bags.

But on the bright side. If they mention that they wish they had somthing, I've probably go t it.

i have mine in plastic shoe boxes (clear) wally world cheap one size for 6" one for 8"and so on works pretty well you catergorize by size anyway and over 30 yrs i've narrowed down my color choices as well. green pumpkin ,red bug, black blue, pumpkin chrt., and watermelon, watermelon red. not much more than that. but as in afformentioned post they usually wind up scattered about the ole bullet interior before the day is done. hint take the bags of plastics you have and combine them all into one of the original bags. most come 9-10 per bag but yet will hold 20-25 depending upon the plastic gives you more baits less space.

PERSONALLY I OWN A 20'1"FLOATING TACKLEBOX

Sportsman warehouse has a bag by "Storm". Its perfect for organizing your plastic. Kinda like zip lock bags and in a nylon like binder. I'll take a pic and show ya tonight. When it shuts, all the air gets pushed out of the bags and everything stays tight and freshly locked.

You can get rid of those worms with a dose of medicine, FA. emoPoke emoUpsmile emoGeezer

I have yet to find a bag that will keep my plastics dry. I fish a twice a week all year. They fad, get wet, to me the bags are worthless. But to be fair to the bag systems, I do fish in the rain. Believe it or not the best thing I have found foofsaver are foodsavers. I buy these clear boxes at walmart. They are about 12 inches long and six inches wide, perfect for plastics. I use a magic marker to write what is in the box on top. And they fit neatly in my storage boxes in my boat. If one is going to do this measure the boxes in your boat and go from there. That way you can see how many your boat will hold. These clear boxes come in all sizes. In 20 years of fishing I have found nothing better.

One more thing. The clear plastic boxes I am talking about do tend to kinda crack over time, two or so years. But they are so cheap its not that big of a deal.

I use the clear plastic boxes from Wally World as well. I basically have mine organized into 4 categories: lizards, worms, FA grubs, and brush hogs. I have a ton of soft plastics still in the package in another plastic bag that I leave at the house. Before I go fishing I see if there is anything in particular that I might want to stock in my four categories. If I took that plastic bag with me, I would never fish. I would be searchin', organizin', and ponderin' all day. Anyhow, I like the looks of that STORM bag. I might have to invest in it so I can take more soft plastics with me to not catch any fish. emoLaugh

Best way to store soft plastics is keep them in the bag they came in. Why would you want dried and faded out plastics. Thats what happens when you put then in containers seperately. I use the falcon bags made for plastics and just put the original bags in them.

I'm a cheap skate ( Oops did I say that out loud  ) er uh bargain and freebie hunter, I cant stand paying what they want for worm wallets, so I went over to the thrift store and found lots of similar bags with zip lock pockets just like the brand name bags nylon canvas back pack like material, but they are bigger bags.. I break my down by tubes, finesse , large worms, craws and trailers, and misc. I paid .50 - 1.50 for each bag .. but I still tend to have loose bags I use on reg basis laying in my compartments . emoLaugh

You are kidding about arranging plastics aren't you. How can someone do that? I just grab some and go. Whatever I grab is what I use. This is a little over half of what I could grab quick for a pic.

Is this an April's Fool question? emoScratch
