With more and more members asking me about oil bath and grease hubs. I thought I would throw y'all a few PDF files to assist in info. I'd really like to see "Trailering" area on the forums separate from boating. I'll be throwing tid bits of info and files up for education purposes. If your the recreational baoter or serious fisherman and trailer your boat, you NEED keep in mind that ALL your "fun" and investment ride on the most important thing to get you to a lake.

Heres some Oil Bath and Grease info along with Brake, bearings ect...

Tiedown and UFP are leaders in this industry. There are others but 9 times out of 10 your gonna see these 2 names on your Trailers. I'll add some hitch and actuator info later.

If any of you want info on anything else, please PM me and I'll see what I can put together for the forums.

Trailer safe and enjoy!

If its super lube, then its a Tiedown hub.

3 major sizes are used. Theres a 6 lug and two 5 lug sizes. If your running 14" tires then odds are you want the 1750# one. 13" and smaller are usually a 1350# Hub.

Have I answered what you need? Let me know.

Billy another question/ I have 13" tires what about axle and bearing sizes? Is super lube the way to go, I want to stay with greese rather than oil.--Tileman

Tileman - 2/19/2008 10:11 AM Billy measured a old set of bearings 1.25" ID ,just trying to figure this thing out the first time to get correct part. Tileman

Sounds odd thats its 1.25...Could actually be a 1.98x1.38??? If you have the bearing, I suggest NAPA. Take it to them and see if they can match that up. If it is the above size I mentioned....use these #

Inner / Cone# L44649 Cup # l44610 If they asked for the outside one..its the same.

Yes. UFP's Bearing Buddy is just as good too. Same warranties.
