Who can tell me how to tie knots in spider wire so that it won't break? I love to use the stuff but my knot tying sucks, I have been using the same knots for years on mono but it don't work too good on spider wire.

Palomar never worked for me on original SW but is marginal on Stealth and PowerPro,IMO. I like the Uni knot best for any braid.

I do not ever tie Braid directly to the hook or lure. I will tie the braid to mono or fluorocarbon leader by using the "Slim Beauty" knot. You then can use your favorite mono knots to connect your lures to the mono.

If you C-rig you can tie your swivel to the braid with the "Polomar" knot then tie your mono leader with the "Improved Clinch".

There are three links to Knot Tying How to sitres and one to the site to teach you the "Slim Beauty".

If it's braid you are using and the Improved Clinch is your knot, it is highly possible that you are not actually breaking off. Rather, you could literally be untying your knot at the hookset...the Improved Clinch will slip with braid. The Palomar is my choice for braid and everything else. I can't recall ever breaking off a fish except for an incident with Vanish...which I'll never repeat

Palomar on my 65 lb braid. Never had a problem slipping like with some others.emoThumbsup

The Clinch and the blood knot will slip on small diameter super braid the palomar and the uni will Knot, Some knots will allow the line to cut it's self. You have nothing to help absorb some of the shock in that zero stretch braided line, You need to strip it off and put two layers of soft clear tape (clear duct tape) on the base of your spool. Then respool the line.

As I said earlier, Do not use braid all the way to your lure, Tie a slim Beauty knot and add about three feet of fluorocarbon leader. Tie your lure or hook to the fluoro or mono.

In my experience and from what I have read, the Palomar knot will work with braid but slips if you only use one overhand knot. In other words, you must bring the loop end of the knot through the overhand knot 2 or even three times before putting the loop over the lure or else it will slip. Sometimes it is hard to get the knot to slip enough to tighten it down but if you keep the knot lubricated and in order it will work well. I have gotten where the uni knot is what I tie on lures that I can't pass a loop through the line eye on. If I can pass a loop through I use a palomar. Both can be tied blindfolded for the most part. The improved clinch seems to break more and is a pain to tie with aging eyeballs and less nimble fingers. Go with Uni and Palomar.

i also keep super glue in my tackle box, i use braid exclusively and have never had a knot slip with a drop of glue on it, i use a three way swivel setup for catfish
and glue every knot.
