Re: Sportsmans Warehouse closing up in 23 states!

I saw something the other day and I think it said 23 "stores" in 15 states. The Memphis store was one of them it didn't list the Chattanooga store. Sure hope they don't close it.

As if we didn't see that one coming. I hate it for the employees, but that store made no sense at all ( fishing wise ) . They carried more of the items know one used then then items people wanted. Doesn't surprise me at all.

I have started to notice this and I don't even know what to buy.

The Sportsmans Warehouse in Chattanooga is not closing. It is the store in Memphis, Tennessee. Yes, they are closing some of their less profitable stores, but from what I gather (from a very credible source) the Chattanooga Sportsmans Warehouse is one of the best stores in their chain and will remain open.

Just imagine how much profit they could get if they actually carried lures and such that people really bought. emoBigsmile

Agreed, I never understood the foot long spooks or the super gigantic swimbaits.

RE: Sportsmans Warehouse closing up in 23 states!

Just imagine how much they could grow if everyone commented positivley and supported the things that Sportsmans Warehouse has done for Chattanooga.

Re: Sportsmans Warehouse closing up in 23 states!

Sportsman's warehouse and Jim Rhodes have stepped up to help make this year's CBA classic, the best ever! Thanks to those guys! They do a lot for our community, we should support them.

Re: Sportsmans Warehouse closing up in 23 states!

Or specifically the forum should support them. They have donated several items several times for Picnics and things of that nature. I personally am glad to have them around.

Re: Sportsmans Warehouse closing up in 23 states!

i think they are a great store and i do support them whenever i need something.

Amen to that Churly. I agree that they could be a little faster on their feet regarding "whats hot" or what works in lures and tackle. Having said that, we had Dick's, which was a total failure, Hamiltons is selling out, and that pretty much leaves Wal-Mart and some small retailers. Not a big choice. Jim Rhodes is a super nice guy and the first year we did Crackerfest he came through in a big way. I'm glad we have them in the area.

BOBBY BULLET - 3/13/2009 10:15 AM We need a bass pro shop. Thats what we need. Sportsmans warehouse is to high.

I don't think Sportsman's is too high at all. My only gripe is that their inventory is just crazy. I would support them more if they had what I wanted, or when they have what I'm looking for, they would stock it more often . I realize that is more of cooperate decisions than anything else. Therefore I will support the other smaller local guys more than Sportsman's.

Yup. Sadly I talked with them last week and they are selling. They are attempting to sell all the buildings up that way ( I think there are 5 of them) but they said they would break it up and sell it piece by piece if need be. Hamiltons would be a GREAT chance for someone to get in on a goldmine if they had the money. I looked into it but just can't afford to make that jump right now. They had just remodeled the inside too. They are pretty much the only game in town up that way

I have absolutely nothing against SW and applaud them for supporting various causes. I believe that the best way to support a business is to purchase from them, however, more often than not when I go there to buy something they either don't have it or don't carry it, so I wind up leaving empty handed. I think that if they cut out about 2/3 of the tackle that looks like it has been there since they opened and started stocking more of what really sells they would be doing wonderful. Just my $.02.
