I was wondering why we still have 30 plus pound bags at local tourneys! What seems to be the problem with grass not being where we want it be this year? We have all the newest electronics to go find fish and it would be great to see miles of grass like Guntersville but this year it is just not so. Next year when the grass comes back full force what are we going to say then? It is fall and the weather is turning cool and the pleasure boaters are dwindling down and it is an awesome lake. Could be worse but Mother Nature has her reasons.
The grass is the basis of the whole chain of life in a reservoir. That's what is tough about this. we'll still see big bags of fish for a year or two, but if it continues, the lack of habitat will slowly affect bait & bass populations. By the time we go, "What happened to the big bass we were seeing last year", the damage is done for at least 3-5 years. The system will balance to the amt of available habitat. We have to see if the grass comes back downriver next year, but if it stays this way for a few years, guarantee you we'll see the results at weigh ins!
