I am looking at buying a springfield or glock and was wandering which one yall liked best in a 40 cal?

I think he's looking at the XD line, not the 1911's. I have a 23 and a 22 so Glock for me all the way. Glock's customer service is unbeatable. if it's a 20 yr old gen 1 or brand new gen 4 they will still give you the same service for any warranty work. If you've never been to Glock in Smyrna GA....you need to if ever in the area.

Thanks for all of the input! I think a lot of it is just personal preference from what I have read and yes im thinking something like the xd, xdm or glock 23...

I like the XDM. It is like trucks, some prefer Ford others say Chevy. I just like the way the Springfield XDM feels in my hand.

I'm an old hard head, set in my ways and I have wanted a 1911 Colt .45 FOREVER! So I went and ordered one from Santa. But during my travels, at three different gun shops, they all tried to switch me to the Springfield!? They said I would like it better!? Maybe so, but I just wanted a Colt! But I guess the bottom line was they all really liked the Springfield. My advice is go and put the gun in your hand, feel it and then you'll know!

There is no gun that has proven to be more reliable than a Glock. Springfield isn't far behind though. Here is the difference. Glocks are just Glocks. Springfields are awesome looking and feeling and just generally cooler.

I actually just checked out both of those. Not trying to sway you at all, but I ended up buying a Ruger SR9 and LOVE IT! But, between the two, I'd definitely go with the Glock. Plus, there's kind of a Glock for everybody.

Not to make your decision more difficult but I would look at a P30 (9mm or 40cal) or a HK45 (45cal). I have a P30 and its an outstanding pistol to carry and to shoot! They are a little on the expensive side but when you put one in your hands you can decide for yourself. JMHO

I don't know...You can't get more simple than a hammer fired single shot. I suppose you are talking about shell shuckers.

I asked this same question not long ago. I was down to the glock, springfield xd, or the s&w m&p. Im extremely happy wirh the xd. 45 i bought. If you can shoot them all do so. I liked the grip safety on the xd/xdm line.

I like the Glock 23 for sheer reliability, and the S&W MP40 as well. I like the interchangeable grips on the S&W for my child sized hands...

Each morning, for the last 20 years, as i walk out the door I reach for one of 3 pistols, a Sig 220 a Glock 22 or a Springfield 1911 45. I find myself carring the Glock more than the others. Mine is a gen 4 with night sights. I love the other two but have trained more with the Glock. If you choose it I suggest that you get with someone who has trained with it for a few pointers especially when it comes to the trigger. A glock trigger is long and neverending until you learn to use it. When the gun fires relax your finger till you feel the click which is where it resets, this makes a huge difference in accuracy and speed.

Springfield XD or Glock tough desicion but you will be happy with either one for sure. I work at the gun counter at Sportsmans and both guns have great reviews and customer satisfactory.

Thanks for the advice guys! Its a tough decision! Do yall ever have any sells on them rangermerc33?
