Hey folks,,,,here is something that I found to be very interesting......in my front yard I have a maple tree,,,,now, that ain't the wierd thing...however, on a knot about eye level I have a YELLOW JACKET'S NEST that is being built. I have been watching it for some time....I pull the car up next, real close, and let the grandkids observe at close range....I have never known of them building above ground before....and yes, they are yellow jackets.

There was an ad in the classifieds of a guy you can call that will come and collect your yellow jackets for free. He uses the collected jackets for anti-venom. They had an article on this guy in the paper too, so he is pretty credable. Thats the route i would go.

Rookies... emoRolleyes ..Just leave it alone for another 2 months and it will be so cold you can get rid of it with a fork. Why bother them now if they are not hurting anything? emoBigsmile Jmax

So does this mean we are going to have a Bad winter? I saw an all black wooly worm crossing the road going south this morning, and all of the hornets nests are high this year.

Cool...I have noticed that yellow jackets have been extremely bad tis year.

Shoot at it Al!

Went to the woods yesterday and they're everywhere. Even seen three nests, I just was lucky I seen them before I stepped on them. emoEek

12 guage at about 8 paces should fix that little homestead right up. Might not be hurting anything right now but let one of those grandkids forget about it and get near it and you will wish you had.

Al, those are hornets, they just built a half nest, they wanted the south wall to have a knotty maple look. The queen is all colored up because she has been drinking all the kids koolaid in the neighborhood. Sheeesh, don't you know anything in your old age?
