I read in fish and game magazine that in the summer the stripes will run up to feed in trout. They recommended near the 411 bridge, have any of you tried this? I'm fishing out of a hobie kayak so the depth isn't a problem.

Yes they are there. you can try around 2 rivers' boat ramp too.
I know a guy who took his fly rod and a cooler and a bait caster.
Caught stocker trouts and hooked them up and then caught some monster stripes, right below stair steps ;)

Gotcha. I put in off 411 and went up and down stream throwing a top water and swim bait with no luck. The wind was terrible. I'll try the other spot next weekend.

Brandon it can be some great action on top and with wake baits. My buddy has caught a couple over 40lbs doing that in kayaks! We went down the hiwassee yesterday and I've never seen so many people catching trout. It was awesome

That sounds great. I'm going to keep trying until I find them. I used a whopper plopper and buzz bait today.

Stripe do not get anywhere near that big, stripers however do. They will eat virtually anything they can catch when they get into the skinny waters up there, ESPECIALLY the stocker rainbow trout.

What's the difference? I thought they all were terms for striped bass?

Stripe is the common term for "white bass", AKA "white stripe" A much smaller, freshwater cousin of the striped bass, AKA "Striper" or "Rockfish"
