I realize that this is not something that everyone knows about or even cares to share but if I could get a little help it would be great . I am interested in the swim baits as in how to work it when to throw it and just importantly where to throw it. What ever info I can gather would be helpful . I got a few hits and caught a few last week and the experience although new to me seemed addictive and thrilling to me. I am looking to be inlightened either by reply or pm.emoFish emoFish emoFish emoFish

I know they work but I think they have to be used in certain water depths and locations and worked a certain way. I have also heard they are big fish bait .emoFish emoFish emoFish emoFish

Honestly, fish them anywhere you wanna fish them. There are models that are floaters, there are mid-range models, and there are sinking models. Take a floater and throw it on a C-rig, or just throw them around visible cover.

Experiment with them. I have to smaller ones, but I haven't fished them in a LONG time.

There are many styles and sizes, I like the large, heavy ones. I like to use the baits like you would a c-rig, letting it drag along a hump or drift down a ledge, but I also caught a few this past week by swimming it up through suspended fish. I also got a few by casting to surfacing fish. Hope it helps.

I like some of the 5-7" wooden swimbaits. I've had a lot of luck fishing them on the outside weed edges and along riprap banks. The ones I use run 0-2 ft deep.

I have a few, Mattlures and Castaic, that look awesome. I just don't have any confidence in them, however, I have yet to give them an honest try. Freebird used an Optima some this weekend and it looks incredible..........next on Davo's list of stuff to get.

No doubt on the bring your wallet , you may need to finance them. I saw some that were $24.00 each and looked like real bluegil.

Those are Mattlures, they look fantastic.

I spent about $100 bucks in a hurry on swimbaits. I ordered on or two from mattlures, optima, river2sea, and others to see if I could find one that is worth it. They were anywhere from $7.99 - $16.99 each. They are expensive and I believe they hang up relatively easy.
