Swimming mammal at dusk. What is it?

Lots of beaver and otter on the Tennessee river in Knoxville. If you see a mink during daylight you might as well buy a lottery ticket

Based on the comments it's probably a mink or small otter. It was long not football shaped and had a furry tail. Thanks to all for the info. It's interesting what you can see on the lake.


I was waiting to read some of the comments myself. It was actually just me getting in a few laps one evening during our recent warm spell.

Fishing with my dad one day on the bank underneath Armstrong bridge. He starts freaking out and all the sudden this deer cruises by us. I guess he didn't realize deer could swim.

Yes...and they can swim a long distance. I just happen to have this pic in my CFF album of deer swimming from Patten Island all the way across the bay to HBSP. I took this pic when they were in the channel in about 35 feet of water.
