Finally got to take the boat out after a bunch of work. I got a little tired of the slime on the carpet and so the boat is now sporting a new catfish worthy floor!
Had the privilege of taking Tim Lasaar and Melissa Kuntz out for a few hours of fishing. They are from my home state of Arizona, so it was nice being able to talk of places far away and familiar again!
We could not have picked a more beautiful day to go! It started a bit chilly but warmed up very nice with no wind and much sunshine. Now Tims biggest catfish to this point was about 6 lbs if I remember correctly, so he was pretty excited to have a shot at a 10lber He started us off with an 8, quickly followed by a new personal best of 12! He was more than happy! Melissa managed a few nice fish in the 8-12lb range, and also somehow hooked the smallest blue Ive ever seen on this tackle! Thing could not have been over a half a pound! I think that was her favorite fish of the trip.
After a little bit we moved locations and managed a 14, and an 18. Their time was limited so as we gave it a 10 minute wait before leaving. Right on cue, a rod goes down and Tim does battle with a beautiful 37lber! Nice way to leave with big smiles. That catfish is probably famous back home now
So for 39 degree water, about 16 fish in a few hours is a great day in my book!
