It was a brutal day of fishing as far as weather goes .Frozen ramp and rod guides ,blistering winds and a temp that didnt reach 40!But the big fish came out in force with 2 fish over 5lbs ,2 over 6lbs,and one bohemouth over 7!There was even a spot that weighed 4lbs 4oz!
1st-Micheal Neal/Rogne Brown-18.47-$1000
2nd-Mike Eddings/Blake Vandercamden-17.72-$500
3rd-Steve Barnes/Spencer Smith-16.23-$300
4th-David Powell/John Powell-16.02-$200
big bass-Hugh Hooper-7.13-$150 (said the fish was caught on a pumpkinseed rattletrap)
64 boats total, thanks for everyones participation. You could have fished a bunch of things today or not fished at all but for fishing with me I thank you!

Boy, that kind of wieght will humble you big times!!!!!emoWorthy That is the reason I decided not to even go, that and the cold. We do not know how to do it I guess. 16.02 to 18.47 with five fish and in our whole group we could not even catch a five fish limit. Maybe one day when I grow up I can catch them like that. Congrats to the winners and way to show everyone how to do it.emoBigsmile Jmax

Cutthroat.... you had an excellent turn out for a first time tourney and not to mention the ill temperatures!  You had everything very well organized and I expect there will be many more join the tourneys as the weather warms.  Congrats on your successful tourny!!  Job well done!

Wow, 7.13 is a big fish! There still are a bunch of good fish in this lake. Was the tournament only on Chickamauga or could you lock through?

They never spill the beans at those big Txs.emoRolleyes Hard to learn when no one will tell. Those are some of the same guys that win many of the big events around here. I guess one reason they do is they do not spill the beans or tell anything so someone else will be able to match their results and maybe beat them. In some ways I see it but in others I do not. To tell a bait or maybe a depth to me is not giving it all away and it could help someone else. I have seen the same thing happen before and when people stop coming to them becuase the same ones win all the time they complain becuase there are not enough boats to make it worth wild.emoEvil Jmax

Those are some big weights. It'd sure be nice to see some reports on how they were caught. I've noticed that doesn't seem to get much attention.

WOW, sounds like somebody is still on the fish. 17lbs is unbelievable with the water temp like it is. Congrats to everybody that won.

there were 10 boats to lock through but the biggest bag to come fro the nick was 11lbs.one of the reasons they are tight lipped is because there is a c b a next saturday.

Coldest morning of fishing ever! Thats another post!

Congrats to the winners who caught their fish on the Chick!

Chris and I started the morning throwing jerkbaits. I boated two short fish on the jb, then we moved to a main lake drop that is gravely and stumpy. Chris caught our first keeper there on a drop-shot, and I got two shorts on a jig. Our second keeper was a fat little spot that Chris caught on a jerkbait. I caught our third and final keeper on a jig in deep water it was a 16"LM. We ended with 7.47lbs and a broken steering cable!

All-in-all, it was a beautiful day and i cant complain for my first trip of the year on Chick!

Sorry you guys broke a cable Churly. But you know how it is with you'll. If you had slung an ear also you'd prob. had the other two keepers

. Did you guys ever make it up to WB? Thats a long cold ride. Did you boys ever find out what place you finished in, or how many points you got? I'd say pretty far up there.

Nothing to report. Ive had more fun at the dentist office. It was freezing out there. Sitting in the water in CFSP there wasnt that much wind so I was pleasantly suprised. Then we got out on the main and it was cold. I couldnt talk it was so cold. I fished with RRigsby in his new Ranger (the highlight, that and seeing the eagle). Other than that we fished more down river (points, creeks, springs, ledges, humps, gravel, docks, etc.) we threw mainly 1/4 oz. hair jigs with slow presentation. Other than that we threw the kitchen sink to try to find them. NO LUCk. He had one break him off and caught one slick on a crank bait. I think I had 2 bites, or possibly rocks??? It looked to me like you knew where they were or you didnt. You either went big or nothing. Ryan has been out of practice for about 3 months so we had no idea where to look. I can tell you where not to look though.

NO, I was just kidding when I said we were headed to Watts Bar. In fact we made the long run accross to Wolftever. Our fish were all caught on the main lake except for one in the park. I have no clue where we finished. I am interested to find out if there is a website where I can check out the points. I know there were alot who did not weigh in that had 2 or 3 fish. Man, was it cold! We were cleaning ice from our guides until noon, and when I used the baitcaster, Ice would string up as my line entered the spool which hindered the feeling you have with the bait. All-in-all, I just hope we can get our steering issue reloved ASAP. We were planning on fishing the CBA saturday.

Its not about matching or getting beat Jmax for some us guys, its a lot of work and time to get on fish like that and stay on them. I personally dont want to take off work 1-2 days, and spend 8-10 hours on the water only to have somebody be sitting on them Saturday morning. Just didnt want you to think that these guys are not nice guys. There are a lot of guys that would be happy to help you, just not on a public forum.

Did you guys fish yesterday? If so, did ya lock through? My partner and I were planning on locking through next weekend. This will be the first time we have ever locked through...any advice? What do you do about gas?
