What's the Vols fans thoughts?</p>

Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron... the possibly and likely addition of Rodney Garner and Sylvestor Croom. I am truly excited. Thoughts?</p>

I like what Kiffin is doing ! Garner would be icing on the cake for sure . Croom is a good position coach, but hadn't heard much about him interviewing yet.

I am pretty confident that Garner will become the next running backs coach or tight ends coach. I think Croom interviews this week, and he is an excellent NFL caliber O-line coach, on top of a great human being period.

Everything I have read today, Georgia is fighting like hell to keep Garner. Should be interesting.

Yes they are going tooth and nail to keep him, they know what he's worth. I think Garner truly loved Tennessee but butted heads with Fulmer a lot. I think Fulmer was threatened by his recruiting capabilities. This is the man who pulled Jamal Lewis, Deon Grant, Fred Weary and Cosey Coleman all in the same class.

We are going to throw $400k at him, $150k over what he makes now.

Will be exciting to see what the results are, that's been tennessee's problem for a while is the recruiting side of things. We just haven't been getting the caliber of players that we used to

I think Garner comes back to UT. It was rumored that Lane could have gotten $3 - $3.5 mil. for the HC position, but took less so he would have the money to lure some of the top notch assistants that he wanted to UT, extremely smart on his part IMO. I am more excited about UT football than I have been in years. If UT gets Garner and Croom and add them to Orgeron, Lane, Reaves, and Monte, the rest of the SEC had better watch out, the talent will start pouring into K-town like it did in the late 90's!!!

tnsojaman... what you have heard about Kiffin's salary is 100% true. He wanted to pour an extra $1-1.5M into his assistants. If ya'll haven't seen it, you need to go watch The Orgeron and Monte Kiffin presser. Very impressive.

On a side note we have an in house with J'ron Stokes today, and Marlon Brown tomorrow morning.

Garner will stay put in Athens I believe. He has pulled this stunt once before about 3 years ago. Its a ploy to get more money. RG is HUGE in the recruiting end, but if he desires to be in Knoxville, so be it. Dont let the door hit you on the way out. Bobo will do fine as recruiting coordinator. And recruiting is really Gardners only forte. Sure, he put some DEs in the NFL while here at UGA, but our Dline hasnt really been something to talk about for a few years now....

I was skeptical when they signed Kiffin thinking he would be here a year or two and leave, but getting his dad to come back to
the college game and stealing two coaches from Spurrier and eveyone else he's brought in I'm starting to jump on his wagon.
If we can sway some recruits to decommit and come to the Vols and especially get Marlon Brown from Memphis next year could
be sweet.

Yea BP, I watched our DLine play and other than the play of Jarius Wynn and Marcus Howard for the most part I wasnt all that impressed. I also watched our DLine get manhandled all season this year and fail to get ANY pressure on the opposing QBs. We couldnt BUY a sack this year. But a lot of that goes to the injuries that we sustained this year. Now dont get me wrong, our DL hasnt been BAD for the last few years, but it hasnt been one of CFBs greatest either. Garner is HUGE in the recruiting department, but I dont think that losing him as a DL coach is all that bad. Thats just my opinion though, but he isnt nearly as vital as a position coach as he is a recruiter. He was the coach that vowed to go into the broken homes in the ghetto of Atlanta and started pulling out great recruits left and right.

I am glad he decided to stay at UGA, but Ive almost had enough of this crap. Garner pulled the same stunt a few years ago and we upped his salary and gave him the asst Head Coach title. Now he has done it again so that we would raise the price....and it worked....AGAIN. Rodney is mad because he wants the DC title, but I as well as many others dont believe he is the man for that job. Again, he's a great recruiter and a decent position coach.....but in no way do I think he is a DC, and that is what he is really shooting for. Mark my words, if we have another bad year on defense and Willie Martinez doesnt lose his job, Garner will be GONE

Im SOOOO excited about UT football again too ! Thats great to hear bout garner too , we have went down ever since we lost him . did anyone see the underarmour game last night ? brown looked pretty good ! it would be great too land him . i love the fact that kiffin is going to try to lock down memphis . way to much talent to let get away out there !

Garner is staying. I was hoping that he would come back to UT but that is the way the cookie crumbles. I think they will go after Gonzales at UF hard and heavy now, not as an OC, but for a position coach. The rumor is that he is not happy in Gainsville. I wonder who they will go after for OC now? There has been some mention of Chaney, who was the recruiting co-oridinator and OC at Purdue when they
had those good years when Brees was there in early part of this decade. I think he is with the St. Louis Rams now.

if nothing else we got other SEC teams taking notice of what we are assembling.Now if all these guys can mesh together and turn it in to victories only time will tell. I for one am excited again about watching my team run through the T again but nothing will matter next season if we dont get a QB ready for next year

What's wrong with BJ Coleman. He looked good compared to crapton and stephens. If we just have an adequete QB it would be a big improvement over what we had this year.
