So I've thumbed through a few pages of threads and seen a few reports. Just curious some say they are catching on a frog some say they haven't got but a few sniffs.

I haven't been on the water in close to a month with deer season here I hit the woods hard and heavy for a few weekends got some meat in the freezer now ready to get back on em.

Headed out Friday morning launching our of grasshopper. Should I point the boat towards 60 or away? Just curious not asking for any one to hold my hand just wanting to maximize my time on the water. Thanks for any info.

The frog bite is slow, however we were able to find a couple of very active mats right around 60 and had a very good day Tuesday

Every year it is about the same ol'story. The frog bite seems to start up river first. Not sure why but I think it has a lot to do with the overall more shallow water. Then it slowly gets active towards the lower end. This year is strange due to the unseasonably warm weather and temps for OCT. It has been a month behind all summer. You can just about compare the frog bite this year now to the frog bite last year about the end of Sept. Mats are sounding good right now in a lot of areas. However if you were to just sit there last year about now on those good sounding mats you would see a blow up every so often. You can sit on an active sounding mat right now and never see anything but little bream popping. The only difference I can tell is the water temps. Also the lack of rain and current. Jmax

Are most of the active mats being found on the main channel or are the fish moving in the creeks with mats

Main channel and secondary mats from what I have seen. I am at the south end, I never go up river very far. About to the Nuke is about as far as I normally travel. Too cheap to spend the gas. emoBigsmile From what I am being told by friends is the frog bite is better above the 60 bridge right now but I cannot tell you first hand. Then again, maybe those, ah...., friends, are trying to get me out of their way by sending me North. emoTongue Jmax

I fished quite few mats from the nuke towers south with no luck at all Tuesday. I had one blow up and missed it. I fished some grass up near grasshopper with only one blow up. Very tough seems like.

That's what I've gathered I would have imagined the bite would be better with the cooler nights here. Are most of you guys fishing morning or evening hours

I have also been struggling trying to find fish. Gone out several times fishing frogs in grass mats and throwing spinner baits and buzz baits with no luck. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I don't know if I'm just picking bad fishing spots or fishing during the wrong part of the day. I have went out most of the time in the morning and fishing, but also tried twice in the afternoon, none with any luck. I am putting in at Holly Circle boat ramp in Soddy. I have gone south just a little bit and fished in several different coves, but I have spent most of my time going north. I have fished in multiple coves up north around possum creek campground, around Arcadia shores, and just up to Hwy 60 bridge. Am I going out at the wrong time of day? Am I going to the wrong spots? Am I using the wrong baits? You guys got any helpful advice? Gonna try go out again this Saturday.

I've found the bite to be pretty good myself . Not great by any means but getting plenty of bites . I have days available and am running 50 dollars off for the next 4 weeks . Here's a link to prices with some picture of a few of the fish caught this week . Few from today . Would be more than happy to help some of you guys out with the frog bite. https://www.facebook.com/Fishinvol/posts/1076853332412016

Was just wondering what everyone considers dividing line between the north and south end of the lake. I usually use the highway 58 ramp and was planning on using it this weekend. Thanks Chuck.

Gone fishin - 10/27/2016 11:06 PMthe water is very low up north thats probably why the bottom end is good now
The water is low everywhere because of winter draw down.
yea thats true, but there are deeper creeks on the lower end so there tends to be more water down there.

Most folks I talk with use the area around the nuke or grass hopper as the dividing line. Not sure if I ever heard anyone say for sure. emoAngel Jmax

Well, I went out on Saturday and had some luck! I got out there early and was fishing the grass mats just below Hwy 60 bridge with some frogs and spinner baits. Tried that for 2-3 hours with nada to show for it. I regrouped and went to another spot and switched to a shallow diving crank bait. Then things started to pick up caught 9 in about 1.5-2 hours or so. No massive ones but 3 at about 2.5 pounds. They were fun and I was just happy to be catching fish! If this helps anybody else out, great!
