Sitting around getting rid of the flu and got thinking about coldest weather I had fished in. So thought I would ask what is the coldest temperature you all have fished in and where were you when you did it?

3 below if my memory is correct.

Wow! Were you ice fishing? emoScratch

I do not remember exactly but I believe mine was around 24 degrees with a wind chill that took it down into the teens. I was at Dericks Lake in AR. emoCrazy Jmax

For me it was a February BFL on Guntersville. It was around 20 degrees with a 15-20 mph wind all day.

It’s a little weird but the coldest by far I have ever been on the water was Lake Okeechobee at 35 deg and 20mph winds. Thought we were going to freeze LOL. Luckily they were biting though

It's funny that 35 in FL feels a lot colder then 35 here. I was down on Toho a few years ago and it was like that, brutal!

Probably the low 20’s with 10-15mph north wind. Temps later warmed to around 35 though. Sometimes bass will bite good in afternoons after cold mornings. We didn't wear them out but got a couple good ones the day I'm thinking of.

Duck hunting another story - been out there in the teens. Painfully cold. We were motoring out and there was a thin sheet of ice on the water that we were breaking through and the water droplets were turning to ice pellets as they splashed up on us. Temps didn't go up much that day because we had to break ice by rocking the boat back and forth to get back in that afternoon.... it was brutal. Didn’t fare well on the birds that day which made it worse....

I don't remember the temperature on this trip to Dale Hollow. I only remember that I had to pour my coffee from my thermos over my steering cables to be able to go anywhere.

It was a trip to Dale Hollow in February 2011. When we took the boat cover off it was -2 degrees that morning. I said I'll never do it again. We managed to catch some smallies on fnf everything was frozen on the boat.

Great pics! Did y'all catch 'em?

in the teens+ wind chill who knows how cold it really was but the most miserable day was on lake keowee a few years ago, a mix of freezing rain and rain all day, we were soaked and cold, it was awful!

I grew up ice fishing in sub zero temps. I remember the minnow buck freezing over. You could throw your catch on the ice to keep it fresh and frozen. I would never do it again on the open ice.

Minus 18 in Alaska. Drove the truck out on the lake and bored a hole, put up a tent. Caught and cooked trout on a coleman stove. There may have been a little beer involved also.

1st PBF Inc Tournament on J Percy Priest lake in March 1999. Temps in single digits at blast off with steam rising off the lake and on our first run when we got to our first spot we had Ice all over everything including us. When we got up Ice cracked off our life jackets and we had to dip our rods before we could cast as ice had formed on the rod guides and reels would not hardly cast first couple times. Told myself after that day was over that it would never happen again and it did once but never again.

-5 in the Chain of Lakes in Northern Illinois. My ONLY attempt at ice fishing in the early 70's. Crappie on Chick, single digits way too many times.

Glad to read your folks stories. Mine was 15 degrees at blast off several years ago. First weekend in December on Dale Hollow. We was fishing a Billy Westmoreland Invitational. I thought to myself that I didn't think mom had raised any fools but that morning I wasn't to sure. The good thing is there was 99 more fools out there with me.
Richard I like those pictures. Have been there before.

Don't remember exact temps,, Feb 2015 CATCH tx was brutal....we were in a dove field this past Monday before the sun came up,,,right clothes make all the difference

The coldest I remember was the first time I went winter fishing. I have no idea what the temperature was, but I do remember just having a hoody on and sandals with a thin pair of socks. When we blasted off and started to hit 60 mph I thought I was going to die b/c I couldn't breath! lol It was the greatest feeling ever when we were done fishing and I could get warm again! Tomorrow will probably be the coldest for me. I just hope the boat starts and the steering cables actually move! They get SO stiff in the winter!!
