I just wanted to ask and let everyone know since this has now happened multiple times in the last month. My dad has now been hit twice by thieves at Harrison Bay ramp during the week. The first time was at the beginning of January during the week someone tried to steal the runners off his 2019 Ranger trailer but was unable to get them completely off so left him in quite a mess. Yesterday when he returned to his truck(New model Tundra) and cranked it he noticed right away something was wrong. He got under his truck and saw the mess. A thief had stolen one of his catalytic converters and did some damage in the process getting it off. He talked with the park ranger and filed a report. How many of you out there have had issues like this lately at Harrison Bay? Also, I just wonder who is watching out for who at Harrison Bay?? Seems as if the park Rangers are somewhat useless. There should be no excuses on the Park Rangers behalf if they were doing their jobs instead of propped up in a nice cozy room. Many issues such as this and "We the People" will have to start taking matters into our own hands. I would love to hear some feed back. Happy Fishing! Don't go to Harrison Bay to launch! emoAngry

In broad daylight at a well used public park emoBang emoBang. I understand that the ramp doesn't see the traffic right now that it normally sees but I have to say to try to take fenders off and cut off a converter in the middle of the day shows a for sure disregard for authority and a complete lack of concern about getting caught. I don't advocate violence but your are right, at some point if the authorities whose job is to provide for the public's safety and for general law and order can't do their job then it will fall more on the citizen to provide safety and security. I understand our public servants are often understaffed and don't have an easy job. I won't go as far as say the problem is laziness or lack of concern but there is a problem and it must be addressed. Thanks for making us aware of the situation.

You might expect this kind of stuff at Skull Island, but INSIDE Harrison Bay State Park!!! That's crazy.

That is crazy doing that kind of stuff in broad daylight. looks like someone would hear a convertor being cut off.

Yes, broad daylight both times. Both times happened between about 8am and 4pm. I would think yesterday had to be a two man operation cutting off a catalytic converter without being caught. That has to be quite a loud noise cutting a couple metal pipes underneath a truck.

I advocate violence and if you want to catch someone ; hunt them like deer. Put some bait out - get in a blind. And wait. Criminals are stupid and greedy, they always make mistakes. That's when you " correct them " - just like jack nicholson said in the shinning.

I've never had any problems at Harrion Bay thats crazy to me! I always thought it was safe there for sure, guess you never know nowadays. I know hate is a strong word but i hate a thief!!

The stories I could tell about HBSP. As a matter of fact I've told a few here on the forum. I've kept a boat ( boats) at the marina for the last 16 years. Theft is rampant in the parking lots and on the docks. I had about $500.00 worth of fishing equipment stolen off of a boat a few years ago. I know the rangers - nice guys...but they couldn't care less about anyone's problems as long as it's not their problem. File a report? Joke. The park could spend a little bit of money for a couple of cameras in the upper parking lot and one for each dock but apparently they don't find it to be a priority.

Several of the rangers are useless and rude. Not sure what purpose they serve other than harassing people and locking and unlocking a few gates.

Few years back got broke into and cut off my cat. Converter off at possum creek. Called the law they made a report, spoke with overseer of facility he said not responsible for truck but I had to pay to use it so I checked further and nothing could be done. Out 500 for deductible of course all my work tools never recovered. HATE A THIEF

The worst kind of people are liares and theifs aliar will kill a man's character and a thief will steal what a man has worked his butt off to have that's just my 2 cents worth

like i said a game camera or a couple of guys sitting in the woods could solve this.

i think tying them to a telephone pole with a big sign saying "thief" would get the point across

while you have them tied up...beat their azz with a rubber hose.

?? all hilarious and great ideas. But in all reality we’d need to have at least 2 wireless cameras sent to someone’s iPhone to always be monitoring it. If said surveillance sees something going on then contact the rangers and hope they are there or will actually respond to the call. Getting a positive ID or license plate number would be pointless. They’d take a report and nothing would be done. I’m game to help in anyway possible but we def need to catch this MF in the act to resolve anything…

anyone know if there is an open wifi network around there? game cameras that send pics would work, be a lot of pics im sure with all the traffic through that lot.

at this point i think its unlikely the park rangers are going to do much to stop this.
