cheez - 12/17/2010 10:43 AM The IBEW has more integrity than all the others combined. They are certainly an exception to most of the labor unions. JMHO

Absolutely true. Also true that they have the least jurisdictional disputes which leaves them in peace to do their thing.

Millwrights contend with the Iron Workers over erection and access platforms; Plumbers over lubrication and cooling lines and Operating Engineers over material handling equipment.

Carpenters (members of the same union as Millwrights) contend with Operating Engineers, Laborers, sometimes Ironworkers.

Boilermakers (an almost antiquated union except in boiler and nuclear shops) contended with Plumbers, Millwrights and Ironworkers.

Masons for a time contended with Laborers and Operating Engineers.

Teamsters want to contend with everyone. They want you to load, fuel, service and drive your truck to the job site, then stop at the gate and move over and let a teamster drive you the last few yards to you parking space and get paid 8 hours to sit and watch you work.

Operating Engineers want the plumbing contractor to buy, fuel, service and deliver a water pump and then pay them to pull the starter rope and get 8 hours pay.

Laborers are like the Millwrights, (this is an insiders joke) all they have is what they stole from another craft.

Electricians get a clean bill of health because they have minimal jurisdictional disputes and their dirty laundry seldom gets aired (except when the BA sets fire to the office to cover up his embezzlement(s).

( am not not saying anything negative about unions in general, just the Teamsters and Operating Engineers.)
