Actually, DK and Hal had 15 plus pounds and finished 4th place. DK just missed big fish by 2 ozs. A 14" fish that weighed 1 lb 9 ozs.

We ran to a dock early this am that had fish on it and had 8 keepers by 7:00 am. Moved over to a bluff and caught the 2nd biggest fish of the day at 13.5" long. We had 13 keepers when we decided to hit our number 1 spot. From that spot, we limited out and started culling. We culled down to 13 fish between 12 and 14" and 2 that were 11.5". Sure wish that we could have caught those final 2 bigger fish. But alas, just a little bit short. We had a terrific time.

I caught my fish mainly on a crappie ringer, popsicle/chartreuse color and 1/16 oz jighead. Our fish were deep except for the first 11 fish that was caught off a dock. Met some great guys and looking forward to fishing with several of them. You guys will have to pm me as I don't keep up with names very well. emoBigsmile
Hal was using a BG bleeding shad and he caught his share of fish too. He said that he was worried that I would have to catch most of the fish, but he is a good student and has learned well.

Til February when the next crappie tx will be held. emoBigsmile emoGeezer

I knew I should have fished!! I might have been able to beat Dixieboy!! Ha-Ha!!!! Maybe in February I can give someone a run for the money. I was glad to see all the toys everyone was bringing. Great cause!

That was fun, but I'll never put out a challange like that again. My stomach was hurtin' at the weight in. I'm too young to worry! HEHEHE! LETS SEE THE PICS!

Congrats to all you guys brave enough to be out there today and for a very good cause. Sorry I couldn't make this one. Had too many obligations.

Yes it was cold but not as cold as Thursday's practice with all the wind,
DK and I really enjoyed the TX and we met some seasoned crappie fishermen who really know how to catch crappie. It was a nice turnout with 9 boats competing and lots of fun at the weigh-in, emoBigsmile Wish I could have put more names and faces together at the weigh-in emoThumbsup
I did take a couple pictures to post but wish I had taken more, the battery was low emoSmile emoRedface

I was nervous all morning and I didn't even do any trash talkin'... bet you were tore up. emoLaugh But congrat's on an awesome string of crappie. One of these days I'm just going to have to burn some gas and learn more about the North End.

I was surprised at the turnout. emoWorthy I believe that was the third time since 1977 that I've actually paid to fish in any kind of tournament (two have been CFF fundraisers), I don't mind giving money to a good cause.

Good job crappiefishermantn!

BTW, I had 11.42 lbs. I wasn't last, but I was close. emoBigsmile

emoThanks thanks r simms i'm glad you got to make it. you did real well conssidering you was the only boat with just one person in it. thanks to all those that was able to make it and to groomer and jsv who couldn't fish it but still made time to drop by and donate a toy.... emoThanks i hope next year we have twice as many.....

Alright, Alright,...A mix of techs. helped up. Shoot 2 docks, 1st on we had a limit on, 1/16oz chart/silver sparkle/pearl custom jigs & 1/16oz lead w/cricket BG baby shad. Went to a bluff & tight lined 1/16oz lime & cajun cricket BG baby shads 15 to 30 feet. Last tech. was a main river channel bank that is loaded with sumps, we used Zoom baby flukes in baby bass color on a 1/16oz lead head tight lining. Lost about 3 13" to 14" fish that really would have knocked us up there. We culled from 38 total keeper caught. Would have liked to been able to fish till 1 or 2, cause I have a couple of spots that don't produce till noonish, and they are usually big fish. Fish a dock today that I didn't fish yesterday with my 3 kids & we caught 11 keepers before they got cold. The only thing that got cold on we was my right hand. I had to take off my glove inorder to feel the bite, I could see the line twitch, but when I feel it, I know a crappie bite from a gill bite! See you in February, but I will say that February was my worst crappie fishing month last year.
