LOL ... I didn't think it would happen this fast... I thought they'd wait and give the #1 spot to the winner of the USC / Ohio State game in a couple of weeks.... The SEC never gets the respect it deserves. I'd love to see USC play some of the SEC teams instead of the nobody's they're playing.

I have a feeling that USC is stronger than you seem to think they are. Like it or not, Pete Carrol has built a dynasty out there.

Did you not ever see the scores when they played Arkansas and Auburn?? SC is freakin loaded. I'm an SEC fan and I know a good team when I see it. At this point they are the best.</p>

The only team USC is tested against is Ohio State... and they're overrated too. I'd like to see USC play Georgia, or Florida, or Alabama, or Tennessee (yes, I bet Tenn could give USC a run for the moneyemoSmile) , or LSU, or Auburn, or South Carolina ... I don't think Pete Carrol would want to play against them... I don't think it would be quite as bad as the SEC wake-up call Hawaii got when they faced UGA in the bowls, then the Gators to kick this season off... but, I don't think they'd win either. Ohio State gets all the love in the press, but when facing the SEC in the bowls gets whipped and it's a toss up when these 2 meet ... I'd really like to see what USC would do against the SEC powers.

I can tell you now, they would hang with any SEC team right now. I love my Vols too much to want to see them take on USC right now. Sorry, but I think Georgia is a bit over rated if anyone is. Well OSU always is, but thats the big ten for ya.

USC is a good team. Having said that, they would lose to 4 SEC teams if they met this year. TAz is right, USC plays 1 game a year vs OSU. Who else can compete with them?? A 4-6 Stanford team??? the SEC never gets any love, even when we have 5 teams in the TOP 15 IN THE NATION! UGA, UF, AUB, LSU, and BAMA would all give USC fits. They have never seen speed like we have in the SEC. They play one of the weakest schedules possible and then get the National Championship game handed to them because they run the table against lesser opponents. I agree, Pete Carroll is an amazing coach and has put together a great team once again. However, that team would go 7-3 at best in the SEC.

Since I rarely fish any more had to jump in on this one :) I didn't think USC would be #1 but that's the advantage of not playing the small schools (i.e., Youngstown, Southern Georgia, Middle-Southwestern-Central Mississippi State-for-the-Blind, etc). The Pac-10 is better than they get credit for as evidenced Monday night. Have to agree with Beetlespin, Carrol is definitely one of the best (if not the best) college coach in the country and USC is loaded. Will be interesting the next couple weeks to see how the UGA/ASU and USC/OSU games turn out. I know OSU is getting ready by warming up against another big timer this weekend, the notorious University of Ohio Bobcats! Meanwhile, USC is taking the week off to get healed up and ready for the showdown...

USC is by far the best team in college football right now. And as much as it pains me and my fellow SEC brethren to read, Southern California would eat up every team in our league. LSU and Florida would keep it close though.

USC is a great team but they would not be the dynasty that they are if they played an SEC schedule. They would drop 2 or 3 every year just like the big SEC schools do. If UGA and USC switched schedules, my money would be on the Dawgs!

USC is off this weekend and UGA plays C. Michigan. SO... will UGA jump back over USC after this weekend?

No, we still wont have the respect. And I agree, if UGA had USCs schedule, or Florida or LSU or UT or over half of the SEC teams for that matter, we would be a lock for the championship game every year as well. Which we should already have the inside track to the BCS. The winner of the SEC should be in the BCS game EVERY year. Heck, a 1 loss SEC team will still dominate most other schools in the nation, as we have already learned in recent years.

Absolutely. emoThumbsup

Don't worry, lads. Another inch or two and USC will have the right amount of rope needed to hang themselves with as far as the NCAA is concerned. Reggie Bush made more at USC than he is now in the NFL. It'll happen again and maybe the NCAA won't turn a blind eye the second (or 80th) time around. Of course, I've said that for years about the Canes and their players are being shot - literally - w/o investigation...

The funny thing is, everybody is ragging the Pac-10, but in the last 20 games against the SEC the pac-10 has won 14 of them. Now USC specifically have played two very good SEC team in the last 4 years and destroyed them at home and away each and every time. I think Florida and Georgia would ( or should) be the best competition for the Trojans, but the rest of the SEC would get their tales handed right back to them on a platter. Sorry Bammers I'm not drinking the kool-aid yet. As far as respect goes, how does Georgia end up starting the year as number 1 and that not be respect. USC jumped them in the polls because A)- they played a division 1 school , B) they killed them, C) it was on national television. Georgia beat up an above average Georgia Southern team that is from 1-AA and was on PayPerView.

Yeah, but how many of those are Tenn losses? emoPoke

same ole same ole ... its never gonna change. i just cant wait til those crappy ole vols come to GA and kick their butts for the 3rd year in a role... cuz i'll be there loving it! emoLaugh emoLaugh emoLaugh

USC may be a good team ... but they are over rated!

The SEC, Pac 10, Big 10, and sometimes the Big 12 are the superior conferences in the country. They all beat up on each other throughout their conference schedules and in any one year one of them is tops as far as overall strength (even then it's still debatable). This year it has yet to be determined through a pre-season poll and one week of the season. It drives me crazy how most SEC fans feel they have a given right to be the strongest conference every year - fact is, some years yes, some years not. We've already seen what I would say is a 3rd of 4th place Pac 10 team in UCLA beat a 3rd of 4th place SEC team in UT. The only poll that means anything is the one that comes out at the end of the year (and once again, that's still somewhat debatable).

The only difference being that a mid-tier Pac-10, Big 10, Big 12, or ACC school would be a lower-tier SEC school. The Pac-10 has USC, the Big 10 has OSU, and the Big 12 has OK ... and sometimes TX. I'd fear Arkansas, Ole Miss, or South Carolina any day of the week over Purdue, Arizona State, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Stanford, Boston College, or Michigan State. The SEC is just better top to bottom. Even after our win vs. Clemson on Saturday, I still say that Arkansas will be a tougher test for us when we play our first conference game just because they're an SEC team. The other conferences have a Big Dog ... but that's ALL they've got. LSU won a title having lost to ... dare I say ... Kentucky, but they still handed OSU their tails.

Go Dawgs! I think the georgia boyz are tired of messing around. You watch this week. If it took running up the score for USC to take over the number one spot they will kill the team this week to take over the number one spot.

there is no tougher conference than the SEC I do not believe that the usc's of the world could compete week in and week out with any team in the SEC including Vandy. ROLL TIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
