Ok guys, I went hunting Saturday morning, came home and was washing my camo clothing when I got home and got everything out of my clothing but my cell phone! washed it so good, and it came out so clean that it don`t work anymore!!! I am about a year and half into my 2 year contract, and don`t have insurance on my phone and when I went to the verizon store that want to charge me retail for a new phone, and I can`t afford it right here at Christmas time. Does anyone on here have a verizon phone that I could buy? Maybe someone on here has bought them a new one and have one that is gathering dust that still works, that would get me by until after Christmas! My phone that I just washed is a LG 8300 and if someone has one of those,it would really be great, since that what I`m use to using, but anything is better than nothing! Please e-mail me at [email protected] if you have something.
Thanks,Jeff

I have a Motorola E-815 that you can have if you want it. The phone is first class and works great. The charger port is a bit of a pain at times but it works.

Have you tried a food dehydrator? emoLaugh

Seriously! My brother-in-law fell in the lake one day crappie fishing. His phone was in his pocket. When he got home, he put the phone in a dehydrator he uses to make jerky and voila! The phone has been working ever since. I can't remember if he took the battery out first or not...worth a try though if you have a dehydrator.

My hsband dropped his in a bucket of water on the job site once. Threw it out in the parking lot when he tossed the water. :) He brought it home and opened it up, took the battery out, and left it that way for a week on the counter. Put it back together and it worked too. It was an LCD display and everything.

Good luck, if it doesn't work then hope someone gets one for you. I have a couple but they are all sprint phones. I don't think you can use them on another service but I'm game if you are to try!

TT

I took this one apart and used a hair dryer on it and left it apart and on top of the cable box for some slow heat like it says to do on a site I found on the internet, but my flash on the camera stays lit up all the time and when I try to turn it on,it lights up and then says powering off in 10 seconds, everytime. I have 2 old sprint phones and 3 cingular phones and 1 nextel. But they won`t work with verizon.
Cheeze, How can I get in touch with you to come and get that phone? I really do appriciate it. I was ready to just buy a new one last night at the verizon store and get locked in for another 2 year contract by doing so,but my wife wouldn`t let me,because of Christmas being around the corner and all. She wants me to wait until after Christmas is over,so it won`t hurt our budget. But after having a cell phone for 5 or 6 years and not having one now. I feel naked. The bad part is that I lost all my contact information on my phone and had alot of numbers that will take some time to get back and put back on another phone.
My wife was really mad at me,right after it happened, but I told her we all make mistakes, and she cooled down a little. But now she thinks I`m going to be without a phone for almost a month............. Not!!!

I have an old Verizon phone too...you are welcome to it if you can't hook up with Cheez.

You should know that verizon offers a service on the internet that backs up your contacts for this very reason...look into it, and you'll have the contacts the next time you lose or destroy a phone.

"I lost all my contact information on my phone and had alot of numbers that will take some time to get back and put back on another phone. "

I think that that would be the worst part for me,, I have a hard time remebering my own phone number anymore now that you can program phones...emoScratch emoScratch emoScratchdont think I know anyones number anymore...

Take the batt. out of your phone, soak the phone in alcohol which will displace the water and then dry it out wih a hair dryer. Might work, nothing to lose.

We washed my sons phone. took it apart and laid it on a towle for a couple of days. Put the battery back in it , charged it and it worked.

In the summer time, one of the best ways to dry it out is to take battery out and just let it stay in your hot car. You might try letting it set in a window sill that gets alot of sunlight through it.

I have heard you can put them in a ziplock baggie with rice and it will dry it out. I usually just take mine apart and put it over a vent in the house for a few days. Calling verizon will generally get you further than going to the store.

Thank you Cheez for the cell phone. I just set it up with my phone number a few minutes ago,and it works great. you are a real lifesaver!!! It was nice, getting to meet you. Maybe we can plan a fishing trip together in the future.
